Swirl paint to finish job

Hey im doing swirl paint on my guitar .... it's near ready to go in the tub. BUT only 1 last thing is I can't seem to find how I will seal the jack cavity, the screw holes and the borders of the neck pocket from the water... cuz u know u got to seal them if u don't want any water to get to the body ...

So anyone got ideas ? tape ? paint ? wax ?

I've searched forums a bit and saw the tutorials but everywhere they only tell how to dip the body ( I KNOW THAT) I want to know how to properly prepare the body :P

Oh and don't worry I promise I'll post pictures of the swirls when done ....

Re: Swirl paint to finish job

Im no expert.............thats why Im now buying my swirls from Patrick Sims However........I have dipped a few. I just used candle wax in all the screw holes. Light a candle and just drip in it. It comes out easy.........ya just screw the screws into it. Its only wax. As far as the big cavities like the jack & what not..........theyre protected by the sealer coat. Be warned though.........dipping things to be swirled is potentialy very addictive! Youll be looking for all kinds of things to stick in it.

Some may find this a silly question, Can one air brush swirls on a guitar body instead of dipping it in borax?

Only if you buy a tub of swirled paint to go in the air gun.

You can find it in most home stores in the same isle as the tartan paint.

More seriously, i dont think you'd be able to get the same effect with an airbrush.

Re: Swirl paint to finish job

Still, I bought a box of powder borax for 4$ at Wal-Mart. I can do like 100 dips with that... it's very cheap to make good swirls like the guys listed up above

By the way all, I tried to put some blood in my paint .... remembers anything ? Well, don't do it... it's a pain literally and I never found a way to put something on the blood before it drys and begin to rust like stains ...

Anyway... the red paint covers most of the blood its not a bad swirl, pics on the way soon
