Swirled neck? - can you swirl the back of the neck?

i've a Jem7vWH, and before i get my head chopped off, i wanna say that no, i wouldn't do a damn thing to it, but i'm curious anyhow -
(a) is it possible to swirl the back of the neck?
(b) is it possible to swirl-stain the back of the neck? *so it's still got the unfinished feel (well, my jem's neck is unfinished ), but has the swirl look?

of course, this would go w/ a swirled body and headstock.

just curious,

warm regards,

Swirled neck?

I'm sure it's possible, the stain would probably be easier and more fesible since you wouldn't be shooting it clear afterwards.

I see the biggest obstacle being the clear coat, where to stop it, blending it in with the fretboard, etc. *You wouldn't want a hard edge right at the fretboard joint.

Swirled neck?

Yes it will work.
The only thing is that it will have the clear finish on it . The edge will not be harsh at all as I sand it down to be very smooth .

Swirled neck?

Wow, thanks, Darren~
I was gonna email you, but i heard you were on the road (from rich, elsewhere over here), so i thought i'd throw the question out over here..

i'm still a bit uncertain of wanting to mess around w/ my only jem, but i've another project i'm working on, and when that starts to bear ANY fruit, i'll email you and ask you specifics...

thanks

Swirled neck?

If it's tangible, Darren can swirl it. *Anyone remember the submarine he wanted to swirl?

If he can do a sub, I think he could do the back of a guitar neck.

Swirled neck?

after thinking even more:
if it could be a simple stain, then it would'a been cool, but the thought of clearcoat (or any blinkin' finish) in the back of the neck..
kinda a bit of a put-off.

anyway, the day i decide to build a show-guitar, we'll see
