Talk me out of a Jem...

I got cash in hand to get a 7VWH. Aside from looking like a Vai wanna be, why else wouldn't I want one. I see them for sale and trade here. Why are people dumping them for as little as $1,250? I dig the heck out of the look and feel of that paticular Jem. I've had a Yellow Jem. It was ok. But really nothing more than a 550 or 570. The 7VWH seems to be THE Jem to have. But what won't I like about it. I have 2620 I'm pretty happy with.

Thanks. Darin

Just get it, because if you don't you will just end up wasting the money on some girl or something. I have been in that same position several times, and I just ended up blowing the money on something I don't even remember...

Re: Talk me out of a Jem...

You could wait and save up for a custom 24 fret Suhr which they'll be unveiling examples of at Winter Namm.

Then you could have whatever colour, hardware, woods, and pick ups you like all with a manufacturing finesse and feeling of overall quality that a mass produced guitar could never hope to match.

Or you could go for something similar with a Vigier right now.

Well, that's what I'm doing instead of getting a Jem. My 2570 is more than fine for now.

At 2-3x the price of the VWH

As cheap as they are going for I might be grabbing one soon. Hello Sustainiac

Get it. The 7VWH is a wonderful guitar. I would recommend getting a pre-2003 version, with the Ebony board.

Re: Talk me out of a Jem...

Buy an RG prestige and customize the hell out of it.
I honestly don't get what people see in the 7VWH. It's a beautiful guitar, and it plays wonderfully; but you can get an RG that plays just as well for less money, and with the money you saved, customize it to look exactly like you want it.

Re: Talk me out of a Jem...

From your post, your concern seems to be the resale value of the guitars. The only reason that the resale value of the guitar is only a little over half of the list is that no guitars that are currently in production hold their value too well. Take a standard strat, for example. Their list is 400, but you can easily find them on **** for 200. Does that mean its a bad guitar? No, it just means that, since the guitar is still in production, people won't pay that much for a used one. I'm fairly confident that if Ibanez discontinued the 7v (god forbid they do), the resale value would drastically increase over the next few years.

Re: Talk me out of a Jem...

Get another JEM, like a VBK or something. Better yet, put it towards a Suhr or a Vigier
