that sickining thud!!!

you know that feeling you see it falling from its stand !!!! ahhhh the guitars heading to the floor , it happened with my jem last night and boy was i lucky i had moved my stand and i was in my computer chair and i swiviled round hitting the stand sending my scratchless jem to the floor, i was lucky it hit the rubber of the boss wah with the fretboard and the horns of the guitar were protected by the wide leather strap (lucky i changed the di marzio lock as im not playing at the moment), hey any one else have that feeling and want to share .

My Les Paul went crashing to the floor, when I was practicing with one of my old bands. I had Schaller strap locks on it, but didn't realise that the ont nut came loose. I was standing there after a song was over, and the next thing I knew, it was face down on the floor!

Didn't even go out of tune, though! WHEW!

Another time, was on stage. I was playing my RBM, and had my Blazer on a stand, off to the side. Somehow, the cord from my wireless transmitter that was plugged into the Blazer got caught on my foot(hey, I don't know how it happened! ), and sent the Blazer FLYING across the stage like a missle. Watching this on video tape, was the funniest moment EVER for me, even thought at the time, I was pooping my pants...

Somehow, that guitar didn't get knocked out of tune, either! I think in those two instances, I've used up ALL of my guitar luck, so I have to really watch myself now! I sure wish I still had those guitars...

I mentioned this once before in a similar thread, but about 20 years ago I had an early 60's SG with P-90's in it fall head first off a stand on stage, and it was only the strings on it that kept the headstock from flying into the audience. The whole headstock came completely off. So now, if I get an occasional chip (a very rare chip ) I know for certain that it could have been worse.

I had a very nice Gibson V years ago. One night me and another guitarist were jamming/recording at about 3:00 AM and quite drunk, he accidentally hooked the guitar cable with his foot and yanked the guitar down from the stand!!! It fell with the back of the guitar facing the ground, meaning the headstock was the first thing to hit since the neck is bowed of course. The impact forced the set neck to shift (opposite bow)about 1/4" or more, meaning the guitar was ruined!!! I had a guitar shop repair it, but it cost friggin $200. I only allowed him to pay half because he was one of my best friends and it was truly an accident. But even $100 was a lot back then considering we were 17 and didn't have much cash.
