Re: The 2010 Flower JEM

I like it. "Elegant" is a very good word to describe it. Either that or "classy". It's going to look beautiful on the guitar rather than that faded and blurred background.

A floral pattern at this point is pretty neat, seeing as how things have been tame lately. I like how the line has evolved over the years, sort of grown along side Steve.

Another way to describe it would be "someone else's"

That does appear to be the case, unfortunately. Maybe Steve should let his kids design the Jems from now on, if he thinks this is an exciting update of a much loved guitar!

I would actually prefer one with Vai's "old man pants" pattern on it, it's been some years since the Saraceno plaids...

Easy pass.

Are you saying that because the pattern was designed by someone else, like to be used as upholstery? I'm not sure I understand.

I don't care who's it is, if you're going to be putting flowers on a guitar, you could do a lot worse than that.

And yeah...flowers on a guitar. Flowers. Funny how we all want neon pink but will settle for some black, red, and white flowers. Not hotrod flames, not evil skulls, not naked women, but flowers. My god, what's happened to us. I'd blame Ibanez, but from what Rich says, I guess I should blame Mr. Steve.

Re: The 2010 Flower JEM

Thought this would be appropriate to post here.

Remember the picture on the first post? From the Mary J. Blige recording sessions?

The audio has surfaced!

Whole Lotta Love and Stairway covers.

I'm not digging the Whole Lotta Love cover (bar the solo) but I'm about halfway through Stairway and liking it so far.

Maybe it's because flowers never really go out of style, but flames & evil skulls do. When I was a kid I would've dug evil skulls, but now (age 37) I want nothing to do with them. They seem imature, whereas flowers can look cool & not offend the in-laws or turn off potential love interests.

Yeah true. Skulls were just an example of something I thought sounded masculine. I prefer tiger stripes myself! I'm nearly 30, have yet to grow up, don't care if my in-laws are offended and have no interest in a love interest that has problems with what I like, because thankfully I married a women I met during highschool.

I appreciate flowers, though. It takes a real man to play pink guitars or ones covered in flowers!
