True, but his signature model isn't based directly on the RG either.

You're very observant. It is indeed fitted with it.

Maybe it's just being hyped. It's been done before. I remember Satriani announcing something new which supposedly was unprecedented and it turned out to be the JS1600... lol

The Ibanez Jem isn't based on the RG models either.

The Jem was before the RG. RG's are budget Jems

Steve Vai, Travis Barker, that new guitar player girl whose name starts with O and I can't remember, and the bassist almost looks like Randy Jackson?

Weird. Cool new JEM though.

Orianthi

I can't see me being able to actually buy this JEM so I think it's best if I keep myself un-hyped

Randy is actually one hell of a bass player and has played with loads of folks.

Yeah, my first thought seeing this pic wasn't even about the Jem, but that Randy seemed to have traded in his Mike Lull for a Modulus Flea model.

Re: The 2010 Flower JEM

I was going to say the same thing about Paul Gilbert using the old heel joints first.

I wouldn't think Ibanez would ever make the true temperament necks stock simply because you can't change your action if you do.

Trust me, they won't. Vai has had his personal guitars modified to include a true temperment neck before. Keep in mind as well that as of yet, no one has confirmed that what we're seeing here is, in any way, shape or form, the new Floral Jem.

Re: The 2010 Flower JEM

Guys, i am all about feeding on fantasy. But just some logic...

1. Square neck joint
2. New Jem is production model, not reissue
3. All Jem's for 2010 are AANJ
4. Mass production with different joint = economics 101 fail

Still, it looks cool... but don't count on Ibby people and Steve being so dumb. If that in fact is true, oh what a spoiler

Not to mention the massive amount of work that goes into a true temperament neck. Even on two guitars exactly the same, the frets wont be in the same spots. Tiny differences will affect where each needs to be, just like with intonation.
I really doubt the company that actually does all the work is equipped for fitment on a full production model scale.
