Re: The Coming into Being of VRMR #2
I hear you. I hated the big dots all my life (because they were on all the guitars I could afford!). But in the last years as I started having other guitars with more interesting inlays, my hate for those big dots declined. I really dont bug me that much anymore.

Re: The Coming into Being of VRMR #2
A couple of suggestions (Im not a lutheir so take this with a dose of salt, because it just comes from common sense):
1) There have been a little pullouts due to the process of taking out the fretts. Depending on the type of fret you use this pullouts will be barely visible, fairly visible, or not visible at all. Just keep that in mind when you choose your fret gauge.
2) The filled dots are visible, and its also possible that some filler will be needed when applying the inlay. If it is too visible for your standards, you could consider applying a mild stain to the freatboard (not very dark, but enough to "hide" the contrast with the filler), needless to say if you do apply this you have to clean the inlay right away with care.
The guy doing the work for you is probably aware of both things, and may do them anyway.
In any case, what really matters is that in the end you are happy about the new look of the guitar.
Remember to post pics when its finished!
