The holy grail hath arrived...

I will report back in a little while, but for right now, I will leave you all with some pictures. The pictures aren't so great since this is even harder to photograph than I thought. It DOESN'T get any more dirty than any other guitar, but it just looks that way because of the finish.

Re: The holy grail hath arrived...

Ok, it has been played on for 20 minutes or so and my thoughts are below.

The texture of the neck is wood, but it's very, very smooth and it's easy to glide on. I'm really loving the smooth feel of the wood.
The action on this is the absolute lowest on any guitar that I've tried before, so I'm actually going to have to adjust my picking and fretting. I'll have to fret a bit softer since the higher action made me fret harder on my other guitars.
The vibrato on it was a little hard for me to do since I'm used to either more or less tension on my other guitars, so I'll have to play around with it to get it just right. I kept either underbending or overbending the notes.
When I did try to do vibrato, for some reason I had a hard time getting my fingers to 'grip' the string to bend it. I'll have to play with it more and see what becomes of it. It might have something to do with the action being so low and me being used to action that's a tad higher.
The tremolo bar moves at too fast of a speed when I let it go, so I'll have to fool with it to get it just a little more firm. From what I can tell, the flutter is great.
I won't say anything about the tone just yet since I have to play with it just a bit more. When I plucked the strings on it without it even being plugged in though, I could tell that this baby may have better tone than anything I've played on.

Now, this is the most absolutely important thing that I noticed on this guitar immediately after plugging in: note separation. When I sweep picked or did scale runs on this baby, the note separation was almost frightening
When I sweeped stuff, every single note that was played came out on its own and it didn't sound like a 'solid block', if you will; it sounds like a block but with many layers to it and the notes don't run into each other. Other than that, this baby is quiet. Immediately, and I mean immediately when I stopped playing it, there was silence.... There's no open string noise when playing, no sounds of your hand rubbing on the strings, and no feedback. When I played riffs on it and then stopped, there isn't that extra bass/low end coming from my amp after stopping. Every chord played on this thing is sharp and precise, and you can actually hear every note that's being strummed at the same time individually, but all together, if you catch my drift.

I have more thoughts on this, but it will take a little more playing first.

You're definitely used to higher action. It's easirer to just go ahead and raise it than try to reinvent your playing adjusting to it being lower

I know the feeling getting one of these! It's a Beaut! Congrats!

Nice pics too. When I show pictures of my guitars to others, they always ask about the BRMR.

What I mean by the 'wood' texture is that on my other 3 guitars, the necks have a clear coating on it and it's nice to feel the flat wood. On the coated ones, it's kind of like how as a kid you wear shorts and slide on the top of your parents' cars, but when your skin is on it, it catches you . I was actually thinking of getting inlay in it that says, "I DO NOT LIKE VINES" in huge letters, just so I can post it on this forum for you to see every time you bring up a guitar not having a vine. I'm thinking of making a few of them and randomly mailing them to your house

You were right about never putting it down, and now I think I'll rarely ever pick up another one of my guitars... Seriously.

The low action is really nice though; I think it will take just a bit of getting used to. I fret softly and everything already, so it will come naturally. The only thing that I need to do is try to grip the strings with my fingers to do vibrato and bends; when I try to, I find that the string I'm trying to bend/do vibrato on slips underneath my ring finger. I think it's because I'm used to getting the string to stick on my finger easily because they sit higher on my others. I have to press down into the fretboard to grip on the BRMR.

Other than that, I've got to get the trem bar to have more stick to it so it'll stay up and not fall back down... I'm not sure if there's any way I could do that without using the fingernail polish trick.

Thanks to everyone, and especially to Rich for taking extra special care of her =)

Thared, can you comment about a pearloid pickguard on a VSBL?

I've already got a VSBL with dot inlays and a really shiny pearloid pickguard, and man is it ever a gleamer. I'll post the 35 pics I have of it soon.....
