i would love to see somethin VERY classy, i think the vsbl was a step in the right direction.
if was gona spend serious cash for this axe i would liek somethin like:

mohog body with walnut top in a trans finish maybe even a subtle trans swirl.
ebony fingerboard
direct mounted pups.
ALL MOP vine inlay
MOP Ibanez logo inlayed in headstock.
but most of all SERIOUS QUALITY i mean jackson custom shop or prs private stock level quality woods and build.

I'm not sure about releasing another anniversary swirl, as that has been done before with the DNA. Also, the ultra classy look has been done before with the 10th, and the textured look with the 90HAM. I like the idea of a gold guitar but then would that not look a little too much like the RG-GOLD?

What about re-releasing classic models but with 50k anniversary parts/trims. Perhaps release limited editions of classic Jem models from the guitar's history but make them 'anniversary jem' quality. Make them ultra top quality ala PRS and also make them different enough from the original to warrent buying them. Perhaps special editions of the DY, PBK, BFP, VWH or something like that. I would say the FP but then that has been released in a limited edition already.

Just an idea I had, instead of one guitar, why not several to celebrate the 18 year history of the Jem.

I like the idea of an EVO replica. And by replica, I mean, like the Fender Relic guitars. Aged. Battered. But in a way that looks identical to Evo (except obviously its construction is sound, rather than falling apart with age and abuse). Stick on a replica of vai's abalone and rosewood vine fingerboards, and chrome hardware. regular evo's or maybe even pafs.

or, and this is my main choice, a JEM in the style of the current black UV, complete with binding, pyramids, and the little triangle behind the trem. alder body like the VWH though. and Evo's.

I totally agree with the classy, mature approach to the look. I would love to see mock-ups of a golden JEM. I've seen some ARTs or J-customs or whatever of golden finishes. A Gold JEM with some different binding on the neck and body would be awesome.

Other ideas:
Direct-mounted pickups
Sustainer (come on, a limited 50th needs it!)

Wow. 50,000 JEMs. Does that include Universes? Or JEM Jrs?

And finally, I would hope they'd make at least 500 of these. Not 50. My finances are too low now!

Ok, there have been some fantastic, wild, revolutionary and downright wrong suggestions so far.............so here's another ...........How about a see through Jem? I doesn't have too be completley transparent- maybe with vines running through the body or something. Just a thought folks...........

I love the idea of a Jem that changes colour depending on what way you look at it. That would rule! Either way, I would just love it if it wasn't really expensive (like that'll happen!)

A re-release of the BFP would be heavenly!

Well...since Green Meanie wasn't a JEM, I don't think that that would be very likely

A gold JEM would be ok, but since the majority of people here don't seem to be overly fond of the RG-GOLDs, what makes you think that a gold JEM would be any different? Same body shape, same pickup config, etc. Visually, I picture a gold JEM basically be like an RG-GOLD with a handle and a different inlay. Maybe shinier.

Regardless of what comes to be, I hope that it's better than the JEM77FP 15th Anniversary B.S. Hopefully they'll truly come up with something special as opposed to simply re-releasing a model in the US that never left production elsewhere.

Something along the lines of a JEM777LNG reissue or a "relic" model of EVO would be interesting, though it would be cool to see something entirely new as well. I'm still hoping that the mirror-topped JEM becomes a production model. My JS10th is lonely

Jem7VWH + Sustainiac + good Neckpickup solution + fluorescent Vine + Airbrush! 1000 USD

Uber congratulations to Steve and to Ibanez for designing a model that would become one of the most sought after in the world and sell to numbers as strong as 50,000! That's alot of guitars

Thanks for cosnidering us in this! I have a few thoughts.

I like the reissue Idea. I love swirls, too, but I think it's too soon after the DNA to do another limited edition swirl. Save the swirl idea for a later production model

Perhaps even a double or triple-neck? Maybe just a 12-string JEM!

Anything that could be done to keep prices around average so my wife doesn't kill me will be much appreciated

Assuming a commemorative model is going to be produced as a limited series rather than just one (the 50,000th one): If possible, can this be run for a full production year in smaller doses rather than limiting to a small number of pieces?

But, here's another thought, make just one or two (one for Steve, another open top the public). The one for Steve would be for his use and commemorative thanks to him that could be used for publicity exposure as well. Hold a contest to be eligible to buy one (Or auction it). Donate the proceeds to MANF. I'm sure Hoshino could part with one.

Thanks
Mike 777 Haug
