Re: The Ibanez Jem - 50K Celebration (feedback wanted)

How bout this...
Natural wood... with gold leaf etched or melted onto the body & head stock in a range of "limited edition" patterns...?
E.g. Floral / Drizzled / Mechanical / etc... you get the idea.

one made from a solid block of titanium thats hilarious and awesome. ummm, i think a multicolor would be sick again, but with brighter colors, the bright color thing is back in a big way.

Re: The Ibanez Jem - 50K Celebration (feedback wanted)

I'd love to see a guitar with the vine inlay, in green which continues all over the body of the guitar so it is a coiled mass of vine leaves. With some gold or silver also. Maybe in similiar style to fire garden album cover.

And putting maybe L on the body, being the latin for 50.

Or a jem with the see through body again but with something inside like blue liquid would look great, blue powder might be more apropriate though, lol.

that gives me an idea! though it would obviously be way too costly, it would be cool if the Jem range had some Vai "song" additions. as in a Blue Powder Jem, a Die To Live Jem, etc. could at least inspire some cool new colour schemes

Kirk Hammet has a guitar like that, full of blue liquid.

Blue powder it is then with a gloss reflective finnish inside would be great.

Yeah I agree, I think an album edition of each at least, just imagining how cool the sex and religion jem would look lol.

they could do a small jem for kids with grease in the see through body too, he hee

Re: The Ibanez Jem - 50K Celebration (feedback wanted)

How about offering the guitar for the original 1987 price?

And the 100th one sold you get a date with Carmen Electra?

Or 50k Cash?

Hmm Carmen or Cash?

Probably go for the cash!

Actually, I have a better idea:

An Ultra Zone guitar.

i would love to see somethin VERY classy, i think the vsbl was a step in the right direction.
if was gona spend serious cash for this axe i would liek somethin like:

mohog body with walnut top in a trans finish maybe even a subtle trans swirl.
ebony fingerboard
direct mounted pups.
ALL MOP vine inlay
MOP Ibanez logo inlayed in headstock.
but most of all SERIOUS QUALITY i mean jackson custom shop or prs private stock level quality woods and build.

make this one REAL special

Re: The Ibanez Jem - 50K Celebration (feedback wanted)

I like the idea of a Jem that subtly changes colour, with paint that reacts to different light intensities. Also, i agree that everything should be thrown in- sustainer, mirrored pick guard and how about an LED vine of life, that would be sweet- imagine having a glowing vine in a dark gig (if you are mad enough to gig with it!)

Alternatively a replica model of EVO would be good, i would be interested in that

this sounds perfect to me. natural wood is always nice. gold is a good idea but i hate gold, it's tacky.

i'm not sure this would happen but it would be nice to have something affordable like in the range of the 7vwh at the most. I have the DNA and love it! BUT i couldn't EVER pay for something like that again! Hopefully it would be nice to not have the LOOK BUT NOT TOUCH price tag. but for a 50th.....that's doubtful. if this could happen it would be a nice treat for all of us who have supported this guitar for so many years.

I'm not sure about releasing another anniversary swirl, as that has been done before with the DNA. Also, the ultra classy look has been done before with the 10th, and the textured look with the 90HAM. I like the idea of a gold guitar but then would that not look a little too much like the RG-GOLD?

What about re-releasing classic models but with 50k anniversary parts/trims. Perhaps release limited editions of classic Jem models from the guitar's history but make them 'anniversary jem' quality. Make them ultra top quality ala PRS and also make them different enough from the original to warrent buying them. Perhaps special editions of the DY, PBK, BFP, VWH or something like that. I would say the FP but then that has been released in a limited edition already.

Just an idea I had, instead of one guitar, why not several to celebrate the 18 year history of the Jem.

I like the idea of an EVO replica. And by replica, I mean, like the Fender Relic guitars. Aged. Battered. But in a way that looks identical to Evo (except obviously its construction is sound, rather than falling apart with age and abuse). Stick on a replica of vai's abalone and rosewood vine fingerboards, and chrome hardware. regular evo's or maybe even pafs.

or, and this is my main choice, a JEM in the style of the current black UV, complete with binding, pyramids, and the little triangle behind the trem. alder body like the VWH though. and Evo's.
