I think JohnCowan wrote something about sweeptakes.
It would be great if they just picked some Jem-serialnumbers and the lucky winners got to design their own Jem, within the obvious Jem pattern.
It feels somewhat natural to have 7 winners...
Those could be built in a very few numbers (7 again?), one to the lucky winner who designed it and the rest (6) auctioned off to charity. In real Vai spirit.
That would make a total of 49 Jems. I'm pretty sure Vai have had some crazy ideas for a Jem that could make the last one, bringing the total up to 50. The last one would be a real auction piece.
Just my 2 cents, not 50...

I would like to see a Mirrored "Bad Horsie" with vine LEDs. The dot
fret markers
kind of give it a "fret light" look (hehe).
A 777LNG with vine would also be very cool.
I'm not big on the idea of a "Relic" model. I can't see the point of paying $1000s more for a guitar that looks like its been drag down a street on the back of a car.
I personally think they wiil do something similar to what Gibson did with their 100th anniversery models a while back. Put 18ct gold hardware on them and a diamond encrusted headstock, thus making a real "GEM" guitar.
Just my opinions......
Ps. Its looks like its still a year or Two away from hitting 50,000 (by the way, congrats Steve and Ibanez), so regardless what they release.... Better start saving now guys!

Yea I dig the serial number idea too, that sounds awesome. Then there would be some real pieces of art on the market.

7 Winners. Better idea. Wish I thought of that in my first two contest ideas above.
The relic idea-I'm not fond of it either. I like a guitar to be brand-spankin-new-looking when I buy one fresh. I want to have my own stories to tell for each battlescar on the thing anyway. One thing I can say about Fender relics is that those guitars play phenominal but there's more to that than just comsetics in their relic models. I don't know if Ibanez is going to want to get that involved.
BTW - From a collector's standpoint, how you you judge the condition of a "relic" version of any guitar? Over time, what dents and scratches are original and which aren't? If you have carefully matched an artist's particular guitar dent-for-dent and scratch-for-scratch, there's a model to go by if there's pictures and the guitar is in retirement.
Whatever the design, I don't want to see something that is so unique and stunning that I'd be uncomfortable with the idea of playing it.

The introduction of a completely different inlay style other than the classical vine, pyramid or screw would be great. I'm in favor of something as intricate as the vine.
