Yeah, but that is for only 10 days, he can own the guitar for the rest of his life. The guitar is the better bargain and it has resale value!

Meh, I've travelled a bit, Europe a couple times, Aussie once, the USA. I would love having that guitar it's one of the nicest PMC's I've seen. It would only increase in value! as for the Hawaiian hottie, LOL I have the hottie dept covered.

I think its going to look great my friend!!!
Hi Ernie, happy new year. Yeah I know exactly what you mean. We all have to tackle the same issues eventually.
The purple started out as a standart RAL 4005 or 4006 (I'm not sure) mix of pigments, then it got a seconed dose of the same pigments minus the red to give it a deeper or richer look. It looked great in the paint can but when I tested it it was kind of blueish, so the paint guy add half a dose of the red pigment and that did the trick.
The guy that mix the paint for me is great and very "on board" with the whole swirling thing. We always start out with a standard RAL mixture and then experiment until we get exactly what I want.

You do realize that some yellowing of the maple will be from the sealer and/or laquer that they applied to seal the fretboard. Did the guy before you take all the sealer off?

Guys, this is my first thread ever that went up to 8 pages, let me enjoy the attention for a little bit longer

on a more serious note, this one has to be perfect. I'm preparing dipping bowls all the time, If they are just ok I dip a randon piece of wood and I'm waiting for the perfect bowl. If I can go through 5 different bowls for someone elses guitar, I sure am going to put the same effort into my own.

I knew that there had to be something behind all those awesome swirls.

Yes I know that, but if you go back and check the previous pictures of the neck you will see that it was on the verge of black. whatever little clearcoat that was left on it was removed during the cleaning process. Now it only has some sort of very light "shadowing" effect in some places. when I'm done, I'll reapply a thin layer of clearcoat to seal it again.
