Re: The Jem ATD PMC Restore thread

ok, not much was done lately on this project so I thought I'll do a test deep. This is just a piece of plywood with a little bit of white sprayed on so it's very rough and was done just to see how the colors look together. one of the conclusions I got from this is that I need a brighter pink. The pink I used here looks amazing with the yellow on PAW style swirls but here it just not bright enough. Terrible weather to take pictures (to dark and cloudy) but there you go.

Looking good so far . . . Purple and green look spot on but a brighter pink is needed. Can't wait to see it finished.

That swirl looks sweet as! You're right about the pink though, needs to be brighter. The orange and purple are perfect.

Re: The Jem ATD PMC Restore thread

This does not qualify as a swirl , I didn't bother going through the whole process I go through for a guitar. I have a "side bucket" for these tests. As I said it was just to see how the colors look together. The green, orange and purple are great and exactly match the "leftover" swirl I found on the guitar. I think I'll try adding some yellow next time.

I looked at so many different PMC photos and there is so much variety. The purple is sometimes very bright and sometimes very dark, on the verge of black, and sometimes have a brownish quality to it. The orange/yellow thing is also changing from one guitar to another. Sometimes it looks like it starts out orange and gradually turns into yellow as the orange paint is getting thinner over the white base coat.
But you can never be sure beacuse of different lighting, different camera qualities, and even different PC monitors.

I think that's about perfect You have the green spot on (I think that's the colour most folks tend to get too dark - or maybe that's my monitor )

Personally I think the pink is ok too, but if you want brighter then go for it

This is my fave pmc swirl

Yours is on track to look something like this one.

This one has really nice pink/purple

Is the paint being made from scratch? What type of paint is it? Haha ... I feel like a can't even ask that question anymore

Re: The Jem ATD PMC Restore thread

Good colors Avi. I like your purple, its the one I struggle with (I'll trade you a purple for a pink ).

Looks like you'll need to test the purple more though before the big dip. It looks like its "pushing" the other colors aside and fading out in the centre, and concentrating the other colors (I hope you know what I mean, as a fellow swirler).

I think its going to look great my friend!!!

Man, you're willing to splash $4600 on a guitar? That would probably give you a 10 day stay in a 5 star hotel near Waikiki beach...

But then you would leave and still not have an awesome looking guitar.
