NOOOOOOO! That's not it is it?! Please tell me no. That decal is horrendous and so is that bridge. I thought it was that "butterscotch" color with the purple pups and black pickguard. I wasn't crazy about that but at least it had some retro colors (purple) and had a regular hard-tail bridge. I would have considered buying that one. IF YOU ARE A TRUE JEM FAN LIKE MOST, WELL A LOT OF US HERE, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CRAP! I think I agree with Jemsite (Glen) for the first time! Fire that idiot! But doesn't Vai have most of the input on what it will be?! I'd rather buy an EVH striped Parker Fly!

Well I guess I'm saving up for a VSBL and a Tremel-No. Or a good USA maple & off-white Strat.

Cuz that's downright fugly.

I cannot understand why Vai would greenlight that. Awful. Simply AWFUL.

Way to kill sales.

I could have anticipated this response a month ago

The chances somebody will step up and say something positive in this thread is pretty slim as the mob mentality has taken over. But I surely don't hate it. I can see why they used the graphic to fill the area where the claw would be, and the bridge to fill the size the trem would be, but also because it's a very ergonomic bridge. Face it, that HT proto with the little Gotoh bridge on it just looks WRONG!

How good this looks in person will depend on how good the graphic looks in person and up close. Overall, I think it has a good look, as I don't think any JEM is ever going to have a stellar appearance as a hardtail. We're just too predetermined into the way a regular JEM looks. I think they did what they [and Steve] thought they had to do to make it work.

Everybody complains the line is boring, especially with the VWH and VBK. They spice it up and everybody complains how putrid it looks.

I always saw this as a fanboy niche model anyway, especially at the price point I anticipate.

If it is, then Ibanez have lost another opportunity with their flagship model (the almight Jem, you can get a black one and white one

and the black one has a fanboy sticker

). Ibanez, go home, have a shower and wash yourselves of the shame....

The only positive out of this, is it keeps us small custom shops well and truly still in business

I'm not fussed about which bridge they use, but regardless of how much I like the old prototype, I wish they'd cut a new pickguard that doesn't have the big hole for a floating bridge rout. That makes the whole guitar look like such an afterthought. I guess one could always get one custom made to the right shape, but you shouldn't have to, it should be done right to start with.

Come on Rich all of us here are musicians, and most musicians like to think outside the box, so I really dont think peoples reactions are only due to a group mentality.
If I really liked it I would say so against anyone elses comments..

Agreed the I just dont like the bridge or the VAI symbol I would of preferred the pyramid symbol of the Universe. The bridge is unattractive.

Man thats stupid... And ugly... And enough with the vine already, bring the pyramids back!

And no Rich, the butterscotch with the little Gotoh bridge doesnt look wrong at all (maybe the dots in the rosewood board do, but thats it)...

I really hoped for a fixed edge and claw at worst, with a little Gotoh or RGA bridge at best... a lighter color, a different fretboard, something other than the stupid mirror guard with breeds in it... come on, something that doesnt scream LEFTOVERS...
