Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

**Jem update 09/11 -Green Jem now has the correct trem**

Hey guys,
As this thread:
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f15/st...ar-117824.html
is quite old and there questions people wanted to ask about me, my past, Steve Vai etc, as promised here is a thread for all that fun stuff!

Mods feel free to move this to a chat section : )

Here are the JEM's that I currently have and use.

My main guitar:

A Guitar that I used to use A LOT - I will do soon too when I get a new trem for it, any recommendations for what model you'd use?

Love playing this JEM too!

And this guy - How could you watch the video's from the DLR and not want a green JEM - great with clean sounds.

Also from the last thread peeps wanted to see the Flame that I have in storage.

**Jem update 09/11 -Green Jem now has the correct trem**

I have other guitars too but these are the ones that most often and relate to this Forum.

Fire any questions you have my way. I'll do my best -_-

Thomas

Re: Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

Nice post! Very cool FP! Too few are heavily played. It's nice to see a well used one.

I'm sure there will be questions, I got none, I will go find the Bad4Good video of that little boy with the oversized guitar.

Great guitars and pictures! Those guitars prove that you indeed have played a lot.

How come the blue and green have those trems? I would have expected them all to be original edges.

Cheers.

Re: Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

Fear not - new trems about be ordered to replace those ones. Still not sure which ones I wanna go for - was hoping someone on here would pitch it with that.

Remember, as a young guy, I was pretty wild! so necks, and in some cases trems got broken often.

I'm much calmer now : ) most of the time!

Re: Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

Parts got swapped around and changed around on my main guitars.
As you can see by this three quarter sized JEM body, which was a full guitar with a floral JEM neck on once upon a time).

I have a nice neck coming for that guitar too along with a trem

You definitely learned a lot from Steve, including how to relic a guitar

Love the Mace built Cruz pained McRocklin body slam!

Re: Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

I love my Gotoh GE-1996 trems. Best feeling trem I have ever used, flutters like a dream, sounds great and fits my Jems well enough. (Small gap on one side, tight fit on the other).

Once I got a black one on my Floral, I stopped noticing the gap. Murders any Edge trem, in my opinion.

How was recording at The Mothership? I saw some photos from the site, looks like a great place to record.

I love the beat up floral.
Beat up guitars from heavy use look so cool.
What caused all the little pock marks all over the front of it?

Re: Thomas McRocklin - Guitars & Questions

I was in Kindergarten or First Grade when bad4good was formed so forgive me for not being familiar with the group. From what I have read, Steve assembled the band and acted as a mentor of sorts. What additional role(s) did he play? What was the most important thing you learned from him? What do you think he learned from you, the band, the whole experience?

Aside from JEMs - what guitars really float your boat?

The 90's are a little fuzzy to me. I saw and probably remember some things that might not be real. Were you that little kid that said "This is gonna be loud?"
