Here is his website if you want to inquire more about it:

(and yes... she was there too)
Does Vai even smoke? I doubt it. If there was one on 3bay that sold for $26,000, trust me, we would have known about it, because it would have caused quite a stir here. I'm calling a full shenanigans on this guitar.

Re: Thought this little Gem was interesting...

So slight discoloration is now a cigarette mark from a favorite guitar?
That's really not too far fethced, I heard Hendrix used to Tea Bag his favorite strats.

I hope that guitar is there when the show comes to Chicago.

Awesome...

Perhaps the $26,000 they are talking about is the DNA prototype? If so then they can't even begin to compare this guitar to that one..

Seriously!! I missed that.

Yeah, you cant go back and check though since he edited all his old posts.
He started a thread warning peole not to bid on it, won it, then came here and posted about how he got a deal on a PMC. The guy's a rat.

Re: Thought this little Gem was interesting...

Here's the thread he started, then for some reason 3 years later he came back and erased everything he said about it.

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41367

Im not suprised he hasn't shown up in this thread to defend himself or try to clear up the situation. In the orignial thread he never claimed it was a 1 of 5 prototype. It was found in someones barn and was beat to sht. I dont think its even all original now that he has to restore it.

Here's more of his story

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Picked up this PMC a few days ago, the story is, she had been sitting in a barn for years, (looks like 10 plus years) ended up in the hands of a pawn shop owner, so he posted it on *b*y not having any idea what it was, I won and drove to pick it up in person. The guitar was so dirty, it had a black film all over it, tweaked neck, black strings, dirt everywhere, rusted parts, frets are so nasty, blackish green like color, I wish my digi-cam could pic up the details, just can't see how dirty & shot out she is in the pics, yet one of the most exciting parts is there is no fading at all, and looks to be all original other than the 5 way switch cap. Awesome swirl colors!

She is under construction getting reconditioned at the moment, here is a few pics after I did a quick wipe down before starting the part by part cleaning.

Heres the sale threads, He couldn't go back to edit those..

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showth...c+rodney+james

no mention of the mark at the 12th fret which makes me think it may have been added later to fuel this BS.

Re: Thought this little Gem was interesting...

I don't see the point (or I am just out of tune) of even asking $20k for the guitar. Only die hard Ibanez fans would spend crazy money (DNAs) and any of them would know the guitar is nothing special.

I guess I just don't see the hype.
