Time for a new guitar - A player is needed
All right, so I got my JEM90HAM wich is an absolutely wonderful guitar. But I would like to keep the guitar in mint condition wich means that I really can't play on it that much. After all, it is a collectable guitar, right?
So what I need now is a guitar that plays GREAT! What I've heard is that you can't beat the JEM7VWH. I've tried it in a store once and loved it (how could one not love this guitar???). But somehow I feel like I want a
maple fretboard
even though I love the ebony. And then there is the problem of should I buy the JEM or a UV? I mean I got three six string
Ibanez guitars
(two RGs and the JEM90HAM), so is it time to try out the UV? I've never even tried playing on one of those. And then there is another problem. If I choose to get a UV then I would like the MC, but what do you know... It is a very collectable guitar that I really should not play on eighter! Of course I like the newest UV too...
Fortunatley I won't buy anything before March I think (they are after all quite expensive). So I have some time to think. If anybody got some good ideas on what to do I would be thankful.
Peace,

Time for a new guitar
Hmmm, collectibility vs playing, quite a controversial topic, I had a collectible hammer in mint condition once..., 'til I needed to build a fence. *
I want a 90 to play along with my BFP. *I'm sure my un-nicked BFP is going to get some, but oh well, TO ME, it's worth it to be able to play it. *I don't abuse my guitars, I actually baby them, but if something happens while it's getting played oh well, if some drunk jerk stupidly knocks off a stand and busts it up, that's a different story.
*
The views expressed here are mine, not to be confused with anyone elses. *

I would suggest you try to use the JEM90 as the "player" as opposed to buying another guitar. Unless the 90 has tonal problems or playability issues, which it sounds like is not the case, this seems like a reasonable plan.
True, the JEM90 was sold as "collectable" but since ibanez took unlimited orders on them, you will always see them forsale used and new. Is it really collectable? Enough to warrent the guitar sitting in a case in your home day after day unplayed? Only you can determine that.
At the price the 90s were sold, given production totals I think it makes an excellent "player", more so than a "collectable" at this time anyways.
If you are dead-set on a new and less expensive "player" then investigate the DBK, upper-end RGs or 7-strings. Lots of time to choose. Good luck... glen

Hey man, here's my $.02. *I would love a 2KDNA, it to is "collectable" but I would only buy one if I was to play it! *I didn't really consider them because I don't like the thinner necks. *I also want a Ferrari F-50, another "collectable" but I want it to drive. *
Just because you "baby" something doesn't mean you keep it behind glass doors. *Jem's, not unlike Ferrari's were built to be driven, to just have them sit around is a sad sad thing. * I've got albums that I paid huge dollars for but only because I love the band and wanted to hear it. *Remember, collectable items are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them so if you bought the Jem for yourself, who cares what someone will pay for it in the future, enjoy it man!!!
Just my opinion.

Thanks guys for your oppinions. Your right, I really should just enjoy the guitar and play it as much as possible. I'm never gonna sell it anyway so who cares if it isn't in absolutely mint condition? And it is a great player! Still, I want another JEM.

If you like the 90 you'll probably like the DBK too. *The Breed pups are a little warmer but the neck feels pretty close.
