Tree Of Life on a 1975 Ibanez

http://www.ibanezvintage.com/professional.html

Check out the link above.
I had always thought that the vine inlay was introduced on the JEM.

not at all, vines have been inlayed forever, it's a traditional inlay, the vine on the Jems was used on Ibanez's long before Jems too, there are slight variations, but not much, kind of dissappointing, but, hey, the Jems are still the only neon ones out there

Vines go back even further... i've seen acoustic guitars from the '20s and '30s with vine-like inlay patterns.

The few guitars stradivarius made had a vine rosette inlay around the sound hole which looks kind of interesting. Vines have been around forever and they just typically look good. Guitars had a period of being thought of as a not so serious instrument for a long time. Essentially segovia revived the guitar, but at the time, guitar making had dwindled and most were very plain

Right, but he's referring the the Ibanez style vine inlay. It's been in use since the early seventies. Cool eh?

Personally, I dig the doubleneck.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I have seen an inlay almost exactly matching the Ibanez vine on a stringed instrument hundred's of years old. I think it was from the Italian renaissance. Very intricate and beautiful craftsmanship on the instrument, likewise with the majority of Ibanez guitars.

Amen to that! The only thing better than a guitar with one vine inlay is a guitar with two vine inlays!

I got my nipples pierced. I'm having trouble deciding if that, or having a vine inlay on my 7VWH is better. It's a tough decision.

Epiphone were quite big on vines inlays at one point.
