Question

Tremsetter Zero point return ...uh whatever they are called..

I was wanting more info on a zero point return tremsetter for a Floyd Rose type bridge. I do not know what they are called. Also If you have used one do you like it? Why?

I plan to buy a Floyd Rose equipped guitar soon but need it to stay in tune after bends for recording.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Tremsetter Zero point return ...uh whatever they are called..

I installed them in two different guitars - the one has worked great for the past 10 years, the other has never worked well. Why? I don't know. I installed an ESP Arming Adjuster (actually two of them) in the one that didn't work with the HipShot tremsetter and my problems were solved. Also, you have to drill a 3/8" hole a 1/2" deep in your guitar for the tremsetter to work (and then it still didn't). Also, ESP Arming Adjusters are easy to install if you have the correct amount of space in your spring cavity. (If you need help installing them, I posted directions on installing 2 of them Jemsite earlier this year).

90% of properly setup floyd equipped guitars will be in tune after bends. If not something is definitely wrong with the tremolo system itself. Even after divebombs you shouldnt have any issues. Its after pullups that you see the problem of the guitar not returning to its zero point*.

Re: Tremsetter Zero point return ...uh whatever they are called..

I like it because I often bend one string while playing another, and without the tremsetter, the "unbent" note goes flat. I'm too old and set in my ways to learn to bend the "unbent" note a tiny bit to compensate, so I have tremsetters on the RG and the Jem. It does affect flutter (which I don't do much of anyway), and feel (stiffer, not as smooth), but it's a trade-off I'm willing to put up with.

I'm always it tune, even after slinging the guitar around by the bar.....one reason I started playing Ibanez back in the 80s anyway! Great machines!

I use an odd one, WD Music TS1 Tremolo Stabiliser. It fits inside a trem spring. It's cool because it not only returns to zero but it also enables you to pull up, though it's stiffer than free floating (pulling up - diving is unaffected).
