Question

Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

I have a jem I purchased quite some time ago. It has a painted neck(DARK BLUE METALLIC)with white seriel number on the back of the headstock. Its labled CE F97 xxxxxx. I have never seen a jem manufactured with a painted neck. Im just looking to identify the guitar, as I havent found what CE means. (Custom Edition?) Please help

Compliance Elecrtonic, marked on every guitar and says it meets electric codes for the type product it is.

I'd seriously doubt you have a JEM at all, at least not original.

Re: Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

could it be a BSB? that has a blue neck..and they were made in '97 (or would that serial be '99?),

if you could post a picture that'd be very helpful.

Re: Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

Body is stamped where it bolts to the neck H JEM7 so at least the body is true Ibanez . Neck has been compared to my PMC and all dimensions(fretboard and neck radius) are the same except of course the PMC isnt an AANJ neck. Has the phillips screw head inlays and last four frets are scalloped. Pickups measured less than an ohm in difference from my PMC and another jem (industrial finish) and are stamped dimarzio. The bridge is an Ibanez Edge in Silver(not chrome) The neck is not stained blue, Its painted dark Blue metallic, same as the body. The seriel numbers in white are cleared over, so if it is a copy, its one of the most correct coppies Ive ever run across. When I get my digital camera working, I would be happy to post pics, assembled and disassembled, for anyone interested.

DiMarzio pickups are often stamped with a DP-xxx number that can be used to identify them.

Re: Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

The letters CE stand for 'Communauté Européenne', what means 'European Community'. The attached CE sign confirms that a product meets the demands of all relevant guidelines and regulations of the European Union (EU). These are first of all safety regulations to protect the user and regulations to limit or eliminate disturbances of radio and telecommunications devices.

Copy-pasted that from somewhere...

Re: Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

My guess would be someone got a 7DBK and stripped/painted the guitar or something..........
I bet you whoever did that was a Jackson fan and after he didn't get onboard with the axe - he used the fact that GC employs quite a few muppets and probably swapped it for something else in the store.
My bet would be - he got a Jackson.

Re: Trying to identify JEM PROTOTYPE?

Looks like a refinished bsb to me judging from the paint in the neck pocket
