tzung oil - used on jem necks, is it available or somethig s


hi:

i have to finish some necks that i build iŽd like tohave the same finish as on jems, i know is tzung oil but is it available
(not here in argentina, for sure) or something more traditional to achieve the same result?

tzung oil


I wish I had more info about Argentina, but here ( U.S.A.) you can buy Tung oil rather cheaply at most hardware or wood supply stores.

Watco Danish Oil is similar but better for guitars, I find...

tzung oil


I'm not sure that JEMs are finished with a tung oil, but if they are, you can buy tung oil here at http://www.stewmac.com

Steward MacDonald is a huge luthier's resource. *If they don't have it, and Rich Harris doesn't have it, it doesn't exist for guitars.

youl find that the major ingredients in danish and teak olis is tung oil anyway, Personally i think danish is no different to tung, except that its cheaper over here in ireland.

Try some gurian oil and youl never go back, if you can find it, its like liquid gold for fingerboards.
