Unusual style of jem

I know a guy who got an Ibanez in the 80's and said it was the "steve vai" model (aka Jem). He described it in his exact words as "white with a black plate and maple neck". Can anyone tell me if there is a Jem like that???

sounds like a customized guitar or a horribly faded 777

the only two 'Steve Vai' guitars with white body is the VWH, which wasn't around in the 80s, or a UV7PWH. A picture will help

Yeah, that's what im thinking too. I have a 7VWH and I know it's not that one. The guy just told me that Steve Vai played this model of guitar.

lol it could be one of steve's Lasher guitars, in which case you should probably as him how many pieces the guitar's in. Or he could've meant that because steve used RGs as lashers, technically he played them...so you're probably looking at an RG. Ask him for a picture, its worth a thousand words

No, he wasn't going to sell it anyway even though it's been under his bed for 12 years. He said he might "need it for something" in the future. I don't really care, but I was wondering if there could be a jem with these specs.
