UV owners question

Thinking of getting a UV (old ones) and have a few questions regarding them.

1) I have heard the frets are smaller on these compared to say the RG7/K7 series which I have owned in the past. Is the difference really that big? Are the smaller frets noticeable? Is it a down fall for someone who plays hard rock/metal?

2) How many of you find the old school neck joint constricting in playing in the higher regions of the neck? Is it minor difference between the AANJ and the old school neck joints?

My brother has a jackson 6 with the block neck joint and I dont mind playing on it - however its a 6 and has a thin neck.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Re: UV owners question

That thread dealt with mainly the neck joint. I created this one to get some answers about the frets and thought I would get some more reassurance about the neck joint.

they ARE smaller... very noticeable... not necessarily a bad thing for an old UV since it IS a shredder's guitar. However, the small frets end up equating to a low-action guitar; that in itself is a benefit for my average-sized hands.

question #2 was already answered in your previous thread
If I end up on your side of town one of these days, I'll take my UVGR with me and maybe we can jam
