+1 that is totally a personal preference. I'm a passive pup guy myself.

As for UVs you can find some nice used ones at good prices if you have patience. I've always liked the PWHs myself.

Hi,

For me neither the UV777 nor the S7320. Any used (and in reasonable state) UV7 is MUCH better than those, IMHO of course.

I would just guess because the guitars probably arent great sellers and there are so many different things you can customize with them that stocking them would be futile.

Yeah, that would make sense. I'm reading into them right now actually. They seem amazing. A JP7 with a piezo and mystic dream finish. Nerdgasm.

As i said earlier, you can get several different passive pickups these days that have a similar output and sound to EMG's but with a more wide-ranging sound.
Basically they'll do what the EMG's will do and a lot more besides.
Bareknuckles Warpigs and Lundgren M7's are probably the best two high-gain passives (imho, you won't get much better pickups anywhere) but if your budget won't stretch to those then Dimarzio have just brought out a new pickup called the D'Activator7 which has an EMG 'type' of sound in a regular size passive pickup, and they're a lot less expensive than the Bareknuckles and the Lundgrens.
There are also a few nice Ibanez 7 strings that come equipped with EMG's as stock but they're Japanese market only models.
You can import them but then you're looking at the extra shipping fee on top.

Your best bet is to get a used UV777 (if that's the model you specifically want)and you'll have plenty of money left over to fit whichever pickups you prefer.
Just remember, if you're gonna' fit EMG's in a 7 string you'll have to route the pickup cavities larger.

For the type of music I play I like the sound of active EMGs, if I get the S7320, I will most likely just put a 707 in the bridge to start, and see how it goes from there. I am well aware of having to route, as I said I installed and 81 and an 85 on my S520EX and the electronics cavity had to be routed.
