UV777 or S7320?

I know they are two completely different types of guitars, however I have saved and am continuing to save money for a new 7 string. I currently have an S520EX and A Gio RG. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

UV777
well the answer to this question is which do you like better your RG or your S
if you like your RG better, then you should go with the UV777 but if you like your S better go with the S sevenstring.
or you can just try both of them out.

Do you want a bad assed, high end 7 string or will a lower end Korean 7 string be good enough? If you cheap out will you still be happy in a few years with it or will you be kicking yourself for not getting the UV in the first place? MF is getting $700 for the S7320, add another $150-ish for new pickups and you may be able to find a used UV for not too much more.

Or go for the older MIJ S 7 string if the S body floats your boat.

Not much of a question here, it's the UV all the way.

Re: UV777 or S7320?

That's what I had thought, I definetly want an instrument that is going to last long, and has an excellent overall quality. Ibanez makes quality instruments, so I know that either would be dependable. I also don't mind either body style. I most likely will be changing the pick-ups, and they will be EMGs.

Price is a large factor, however to me it's more a matter of patience, in saving money. I of course would have to wait a bit longer for the UV777 as it reatails for aound $1900 I believe.

Thanks for all of you input this far.

Re: UV777 or S7320?

If you're going to change the pickups then you'd be mad to buy a brand-new guitar to do it to.
As you probably know,7 string EMG's require a guitar to be routed as they're larger than regular passive 7 string pickups and routing a brand-new guitar just doesn't make financial sense.
With some of the amazing high-output passive 7 string pickups you can get these days (Lundgren+Bareknuckles) i wouldn't rush into EMG's anyway.
Both of the makes i mentioned there will give you as much power and gain as EMG's and a bit more versatility too.
EMG's are great but if you've only got one 7 string they'll limit the sounds you can get.

You can get one of the earlier UV777's (with the, imho, better Lo-Pro trem)for around $900.
That would make more sense and you'd save money.

Just get a 7621 or 7620. Better guitars from my limited experience, and definitely worth like, a quarter of the price! MIJ too. Wow.

762X is worth 1/4 of the price they go for?

Re: UV777 or S7320?

If you're talking new, the UV is hideously overpriced for what it is, save some money and buy an RG1527 and upgrade the pickups. Seriosly, unless you have a Vai fetish or love the neck profile on the UV don't buy one. They are no better quality than the RG1527.

I can't comment on the new S7320 as I haven't played one, but I have two of the older S7420s and love them to death, they are amazing guitars with one of the best seven string necks I've ever played (and I've owned Ibanezes, Schecters, Epi LP 7s, and played EBMM JPM 7s and Dean 7s).

Good idea technomancer.

Definately check out the EB/MM Petrucci 7. I know its not an Ibanez, but it was one of the nicest guitars I ever played.

Or wait until next year for the JS 20th as it'll be a 7 string.
