UV777BK

Im looking at buying a UV in the next month or so. Im playing threw a Fender Hot Rod deluxe with new preamp tubes and new speaker and a variety of effects. I really shoot for any good solo sound and good playablity in a guitar. I want to play some Dream Theater 7 songs and stuff like that. My question is, how do you guys think the UV will complement that? Is it any different playing 6 string songs? I see John Petrucci always switching back to his 6 string when he is down with the 7 songs, why? Also Im not too sure about the pickups it comes with. How are they, what kind of sound should u expect from them? If I were to change them, what would a good replacement be!?

Thanks,
Scott

as far as pickups go i would say switch to something with a lil more output, the uv blazes are a lil muddy (mine are anyway). im sure petrucci switches because its easier to mute 6 strings than aseven string, and he has small hands so i imaginehe like his small six string quite a bit better.

I've grown to like the blazes exspecialy the neck pickup but, my preamp has a pre EQ. My uv777bk is sweet as hell and I use it for everything.
