UV777PBK_NOT FOR ME...

I checked out the UV777PBK and am not impressed... The neck isnt to comfortable for me, and not fast, i prefer the 7321s neck (mayme am mad)
also the pups arent for me, Generally it hasnt the power i want from a 7string and i bealieve its a little overpriced (2020E= +-2500$ in cash)... But i want a 7 string and i dont know what to check out, some friends of mine told me that the schecter hellraiser c-7 kick ass, but i dont know if it worths for a korean (or Chinese) instument (1000+E)... What do u think?

My guess is the one you tried out had a factory (crap) setup and you played through (god knows what) rig at the music store?? Right??

It's all about the setup and the rig man

(remember that when you try a different model 7 string)

Re: UV777PBK_NOT FOR ME...

I replaced my 2003 Universe with a used ibanez Rg7421 and im a lot happier,
I wanst able to play the universe confortably the neck was really big for me, the pickups sounded bad to me, and was really a expensive guitar like to beat it taking it to gigs, so i got this used Japanese Rg for $300 dollars, and changed the pickups for an emg 81 in the bridge and 707 in the neck, Im a lot happier with this.
The wizard neck is easier to play for me, faster, and the sound is 10 times better than the uv.
But you cant beat the look of the universe, everytime i played with the uv, was eyecatching.
Also in a band contest, i played with the uv, bought a new earnie ball instrument cable, and had trouble with that, the conecction was bad, later i realized it was the cable that didnt fitted well in the uv.
I have wanted a uv for a long time, but was really dissapointed when i got it and played.

Thats just my point of view, the universe didnt fit my needs.

You should check out a Japanese made Rg, like rg7421, rg7620, rg7621.

Ive also played a friend's rg7321 with seymour duncans jb and jazz, its a good guitar, but a japanese feels better.

U r right man, i played when it came just out of the box, it was out of tune and i was tuned it, and yeah i played on a ibanez solid state amp... So, tell me what to do if i was ok whith the 7321s action and neck... DO u think that i have to buy it and set it up right? And then she will give me her grace?

I'm not going to tell you to BUY anything (I don't want to be sued)

What I will say (and did say) is that a proper setup (and rig) make all the difference in the world My first Jem I played in a music store I was appauled But it was set up like crap. Then I played a friends that was properly set up and

I was SOLD!!! Now I have 7

I dont care what guitar it is, whether its a $ 300 cheapy or a $ 20,000 beast. If it's not set up right, it's gonna play like crap!

The best set ups I've experienced are from Rich (Ibanez Rules) You can't go wrong with anything you get from him. I'm not sure, but he probably has some 7BK's. Also, if you try a different rig and still don't like the tone, you can always switch out the ~blaze~ pups for something else

I know, my ESP HORIZON FRII has an ebony freatboard, but the most rosewood freatboards i have seen is darker than the UVs i tried, but maybe is just the polish...

Re: UV777PBK_NOT FOR ME...

I bought a UV777PBK from Rich (ibanezrules.com) recently. He set it up and it is the best playing guitar I've owned/played. I also replaced the pickups to D-Activator 7's and am much happier with the amplified sound. But I also owned one a few years back for about 45 minutes and I hated it. I am glad I gave it a second chance. Forget your local dealer if you can because Rich is the man!!!

Re: UV777PBK_NOT FOR ME...

7321's are actually good guitars with nice necks. With upgrading parts you get a lot of guitar for the money.

If you don't like the new UV's, then try the older ones. The necks are different and they just have a different feel to them. That and a second hand one imported from the states still costs about half or less than half what a uv777 costs over here...

Pickup wise the 7321's will be arse, so whatever you do you'll have to replace them. If you want more gain try an evo7 or a dactivator7, both'll notch up the gain from the blazes, in fact, the only time i've really liked the blaze is in a 7421XL aned in my PWH, but the blaze in that has all the bass opole opieces raised 1mm which may have something to do with it...
