Vai, a master Universe player - But why have I never seen hi
*Steve Vai records a lot of tracks with a Universe, but how come the many times I've seen him (well, not that many) live and all the videos I have of him he is NEVER playing one? *Just curious...has anyone ever seem him playing live with one?

I guess nobody went to the Whitesnake shows in the early '90s. *I'm pretty sure he used UVs exclusively during that tour. *He used UVs in all the videos for the Slip of Tongue album and for the PAW videos. *He also uses a UVMC on the ALS video for Ya Yo Gakk. *Then, of course, there's the Ibanez 7th Heaven video with the UV777PBK...

c'mon guys. Steve almot exclusively playa the 7VWH for all live shows.
The UVMC's and Multi colored swirled guitars are merely for show and used for videos, tv and cd covers To sell guitars and whatever other marketing/ratings ploy that ibanez and the networks are using. Plus, i bet ibanez pays him a pretty *penny for it too.

Jason is right, he did use them exclusively on the Whitesnake Tour. *I worked a few of the shows and, if I remember correctly he had only one or two Jems in his guitar rack the rest were all Universes.

i was referring to the vai band stuff. i dont know what guitars he really used for the other projects. Just that most of the live shows and videos i have ever seen he was almost always using a *white jem.

*I still find it weird that he's the sole (GOOD) Universe endorser, yet I will never see him with one in person, now that it's not 1987 anymore. *Oh well, that's just the strangest thing to me.

Which is why we'll probably never see another UV model. *Apparently, Steve's signature line achieved perfection in his eyes with the JEM7VWH and the UV777BK. *We only see new JEMs because Ibanez sees that they sell. *If we see a new JEM being used, it's basically a VWH in another colour. *If we're lucky, same goes for UVs. *So everyone start buying large amounts of UV777BKs so that Ibanez gets a clue and decides to make a profit of this recent trend. *At least then we'll get some cool advertising photos with Steve
holding
a UV. *Let's just all pray they don't decide to work it like the JEM and make the "budget" UV. *Good god, UV555BK...eeewwww
