you're right, at least that's what he said. i don't really get the reason behind that, it's just senseless to me. but well, Vai is half Ibanez, so he can do whatever.

sure, but why paint a FP? there's a fabric on the wood, it's senseless to paint a FP. just get a DY and paint it another color, or have Ibanez give you a blank JEM body... but well, who cares

Didn't he make her shortly after the release of the VWH? I suppose he might have just wanted to push the VWH's but liked that particular FPs tone. Maybe he matched the bodies resonance to a neck but wanted it to look like a VWH? No idea, just throwing ideas...

In tokyo there is a shop doing this professionally. Very good and clean job.
Its a Jem 7vwh fitted with Fernandes sustainer. Plays and sound awesome.
