VDY Jem - Any input?
Hey, all. *I found this Jem on ebay, and am not terribly sure about any authenticity on it. *The guy never gives the actual model number. *Here is the address:
Removed eBay Link to JEM777VDY auction
I always favor maple fretboards, but this one seems pretty cool. *Is it worth what he's asking for it? *
Thanks a ton,
mg
Edited by Jemsite - please do not EVER post eBay links in this topic. They belong in the "Buy, Sell, Auction & Reseller Talk" forum. I've left this here to discus this JEM model.
This is a JEM777VDY from the pictures.

As for the JEM777VDY, you can read commentar about it on Jemsite --> Guitar area. Also check out the SPECS. The notable difference from the DY (maple w/ pyramids) is the thinner Wizard
neck dimensions
on the VDY. I'd pass on that model unless it's several hundred cheaper than a new DBK. Looks aside it's missing the AANJ. Good luck... glen

I'm going to start a new coined name. If you've paid several hundred less for a model than you should have, you've just *Cianciullied*
A mint VDY for several hundred less than a new DBK is a STEAL!

I owned one of these and it just didn't feel right.
It played ok, but something was missing. I agree with Glen,,,If you pay $5-600, you are in the ball park. I payed $450 for mine. It wasn't in terrible shape but it wasn't minty mint either. Rich will account for that. He got it on trade for Roadkill (
My DBK
).

Sure Jimm, but that one was a beater IMO, numerous dinks and cracks, wear, etc. Neck was very good though. I sold it for $600 I think.

I always associate the yellow leaves on the vine with a dead plant. *I prefer the plain old DYs with the
maple neck
and pyramids, not to mention the bigger frets.

Yep, it was a player/beater. The neck was the only good thing about that guitar...lol
Glad I upgraded to the DBK...thanks a ton..

To each his own ya know, and Opinions vary....I have 5 Jems....and one of them is the 777VDY....and it is by far my favorite. *It is literally my heart and sole....I've had it since 1989.....and have played no other guitar in my life, more than I have played this one. *I did put an Evolution in the Bridge....and I really just did that for grins! *If you are really use to a fatter neck....more
Gibson Les Paul
style....the 777VDY will really throw you....the neck is VERY thin....but I love it! *And heaven forbid if anything were to happen to my 777VDY...and I had to replace it (which I would - spare no expense)....I imagine I'd make some guy on Ebay like that...very happy....because there's no telling what I would spend to get such a mint one! *Anyhow...Opinions vary!!! *And I LOVE this particular model.
