volume level ???

Hi , I´m a mexican guy who likes Ibanez guitars specially Jem model,
I own a Jem DY model ( firsts Jems ) and I have a question about the output volume of the pickups, the single pickup in the middle is low in comparison to the other pickups.

I own other Ibanez , an Rg-570 and rg560 ,and one Strattocaster and I no have this problem with the sinlge pickups. All the pickups in these guitars have more or less the same output level.

Please, what can i do for this problem in my Jem, Is this usual ? any comment, thank u.
PD. Sorry about my english , I hope u understand.

The Jem singles are quieter than the humbuckers, I've noticed that in all my Jems except the VWH. The only thing you can really do, is to raise the height of the single and/or lower the humbuckers to try to match them better. There is a chance that your single is going bad too though, there shouldn't be a massive difference, although, when I got my DY, the single was so low, it was flush with the pickguard, and that isn't right! Don't get tooooooooo close to the strings though, or you will lose some comfort, as well as the magnetic field of the pickup will cause a reduction in sustain as it will lessen the amount of time your string will vibrate.

Welcome to the forum!

The lowered output in the 2-3-4 positions is a boon for those that use a volume level for boost during solos. I also liked using those positions for rhythm due to the Strat-like tone which wasn't quite so jarring going between clean and rhythm parts.

You can crank up that pickup though if you desire to. Just don't get too close to the strings with it...

I've said many times on this forum that the middle pickups in Jems (and all Ibanez guitars) it quite awful.

My best advice, if it's possible for you, is go to your local music store and get a hotter single-coil pickup. There are many on the market - I use the Dimarzio VirtuAL2 - others here like the Blue Velvet.

Bottom line is, anything is better than the stock pickup.

I have also found my middle pickup is quite low. I have adjusted the hights on all of them to try and suit my needs but the big question is this.....

How low can you go with the EVO's before they start to lose sustain and tones?
Anyone got an opinion on this?
Thanks

I sunk mine nearly flush with the pickguard... and I still get a good sound out of it.
