What about a Jemsite10th?????

I checked out vai.com a couple of days ago and saw that Vai is giving away a bunch of gear to commerate the 10th anniversary of his website. Ironic as it seems, no UV10th or a new Anniversary Jem.

Anyways I'm not really sure how old this website is, but I remember coming here when I was just 16! I'm 25 right now. I first came here to find out more about Ibanez Jems after lusting for a BFP I saw in a store window when I was just 8 years old. Well since, 2 jems and 1 UV later, I've been coming here to an invaluable resource to jem/uv afficianados and guitar players alike.

I love it here.

I've made friends who transcend both continent and culture, and interacted with a bunch of likeminded and VERY cool guys

What about an idea for a Jemsite Anniversary Jem10th?????

What say you Glen?

Oh yeah and while I'm at it, thank you for this website, you made me sleep much better at night during my days in secondary school and junior college.

spring 2007 would be 10 years of jemsite.com... scary!

too bad ibanez, morley, carvin, dimarzio and ernie ball don't sponsor jemsite but this would be good conversation for this winter for sure

I remember the days of the old forum where we could upload pictures of ourselves on our profiles! LOL.

If ibanez doesn't make us one *Yeah right*, we could get one customed.

Well, a Jemsite 10Th Edition from Ibanez is realistically...impossible.

BUT! I Think Ibanez should recognize and appreciate the work Glen and the whole community have done all these years. I'm relatively old here, and I still want to go buy an Ibanez guitar everytime I browse this site! Can you think of a better publicity tool? 10 years...for free!

I think a great gesture would be a gift guitar for Glen (something like a VWH with jemsite.com inlayed instead of the vine), and another to raffle among forum members.

Yes I would definately think one straight from Ibanez could be well, impossible. But we could definately get one customed.

As for shirts, I've already got 3 sitting in my cupboard including the DNA one...which only came in an XL.

jemsite ts were done in like 1999-2000 timeframe... 12 dozen made by darren/atd... long gone.

ibanez won't do anything.

to date their "support" of jemsite has been 3-4 hoshino usa employees working on their personal time (in a stealth fashion - jim, butch, jd & tim... all long gone) helping to answer questions, sending out 3-4 print catalogs in 9 years, a couple of muddled excel spreadsheets (which were not allowed to be published) and some posters/picks when a bunch of us met up at a G3 show in NY/PA

They even didn't mention jemsite explicitly in the Ibanez book. They talk about "the internet community" in general or something like that...what an ungrateful company...

I still like they axes anyway LOL

Those sponsors don't support Vai's site, either, but they likely provided prizes for the giveaway. If you talk nice to them, maybe they could do the same for Jemsite.

darren - those are companies that pay and/or send royalty checks over to Vai

for the record his support of the site here is less than ibanez. 9 years later still managing to get by

being a year away i haven't given it much thought. a couple of giveaways to visitors is a great idea but that assumes you have parties who are remotely enthusiastic. i don't have a marketing dept and yet my contact info has been online since day 1

Here's what you do.....set up one of those "essay" contests, then contract Jeremy to produce a "jem-like" guitar complete with Jemsite graphics/logos/etc "10th Anniversary" et al, then Glen can autograph it and the winner gets round-trip airfare and hotel in Atlantic City to receive the guitar in person.
