Backstop. Helps to keep the floater in tune, depending on what you do (
palm mute
, bending one string while playing more)
Yes.

Why you want to put one in your guitar if you don't know what it is/does?
Why Ibanez stopped making those? Not a best seller, eh?
EDIT: # 140229890907 on 3bay. $199.99?!?!?! Gotta be then most expensive "useless" gadget I've ever seen :-o

These are little-known secret nuclear-reactors (stereo, of course) that energize your picking hand to move at in-human speed.
Yngwie and Pettrucci have both secretly used them for years - until their Units started glowing and fell off from the radiation.
Now they both offer carbon-offsets with every record purchase to the general public and I hear sales are really HOT.

Re: What Are These?
I have installed one in my VWH. I wouldn't say useless. They are expensive 'cause they are hard to find. You can find cheaper alternatives if you want.

Re: What Are These?
Thanks jemaholic!!! I have got to get one of those. Can I install one of those mini-reactors in my car and run it? Do you know if they can be separated and if so, can they still generate the necessary power? That would be great to skip the gas station completely - especially if you can put them in two cars!!!
By the way, do you know if you can run them off garbage or just plutonium?

Batman and Robin have used them in the Batmobile for years, but oddly they stared growing bizzare uniforms and masks.....

You know I've never understood the need for a backstop. Maybe I need to slow down a bit

I have one. It is currently sitting in baggie on my desk. They do work well.

Don't you mean Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, in their limousine? Who then turned to crime fighting when the masks and uniforms started growing, and replaced the limo with the Batmobile?

Aha, beat me to it!
My Edge-equipped guitars stay in tune just fine even when diving until the strings slack and pulling up three steps; can't see the need for a backstop, personally.

Re: What Are These?
You can't separate them. They only work in pairs....like the WARP nacells on the Enterprise. I wish they would make a frontStop....
