man that would be a PITA to play
idk, But I can definitly say on the video of the blues neck he had to bend a wholestep to get the high 24th fret octave so idk wth is goin on with this neck lol

I like the concept of "key colors"; each key sounding different because of the different dissonances created. I think it would open up a lot of new "tonal possibilities"

Re: What does everyone think about this True Temperment necks that Vai talks about
I think it's ingenious. I don't know why some people are bashing such a great idea.
Sure, it might not be all that practical, but it's still an advance in guitar technology. I'm sure there were people out there who told
Floyd Rose
and
Les Paul
that their inventions were stupid.

I don't see it that way, I see it as just another tool. Like I said earlier, the concept of key colors opens up a whole range of harmonic possibilities. Some won't use it, but some will.

i agree 100%!
there's a lot of people who havn't heard the difference bashing it in here because it's new and different to what they play.
i think it's easy for people to be against it simply because it looks so alien..
would Vai be interested if he didn't hear a difference and see a positive use for it?
starting to deal with more perfect tuning is a huge advance as you said, in guitar technology, i think it deserves respect even if everybody stays away from it..

Maybe playing with an orchestra actually enabled him to hear just how out of tune guitars (naturally) are?
