What type of clear-coat on JEM7VWH

I was at the G3 concert in Copenhagen on monday and a friend of my brother brought his new JEM7VWH 2004 along so he could get a signature. The lucky guy got it, but now he wants to but a little more clear coat on the guitar in order to preserve it. He did a test today on the backside, but it has turned yellowish the area he did it on. Anybody know what kind of clear coat that is on the JEM7VWH?

My suggestions:

No.1 Lightly and gently sand the guitar in the part where he aplied the new clearcoat, in order to remove the new clear. You can ask a Luthier to this in order to preserve the guitar and restore it to its original condition. After polishing it, it should be restored.

No2. Put a translucent sticker or tape over the signature, but dont mess with the clearcoat again.
