Whatever happened to those cheaper Jems?

Forgive me for being ignorant, but I used to post on here years ago and back then there were rumors of an entry-level Jem (333 I think).. whatever happened to that? do they make 'em now?

Yep,
the 333 exists, as anti bootleg in the azian market. As explained by Steve Himself here, do a search.

I remember reading that thread when it was posted a while ago, and when Mr. Vai replied. I seem to recall him saying it wouldnt be available in our neck of the woods though, which is a real shame, I'd love to get my hands on one of these.

I'm not sure if it's worth the dough.
It's basically a plywood...strike that..basswood RG with a monkey grip and lions claw. Normal dot inlays, ibby pickups.. stuff like that. You're better off with a new 555, if you're looking for a cheap Jem. With the new trems, it's a pretty good bang for your buck, imho..

Sheilds up!

edit: wood..

Actually, I never saw that redish 333 before, that looks pretty good, they should think about doing a 777 like that

I played a couple of them and they play like cheap RGs. Ok guitars for the price, although not my cup of tea, personally.
