What's the best thing to do with this SK?
Right, after a few months of mulling over this SK, I decided to let Rich know I'm gunna take it.
Now I am thinking about what to with it, maybe a new paint job? I'm not a collector really, I just want to restore the guitar back to it's original shape.

You mean a new SK paint job, right?

Tape off the lighter half and put it in the sun for a year or two
Just kidding, I would go for a refinish, Patrick would have been perfect for that if he was still at it, but I'm sure you could ask him what paint he used and get someone local to you to do the paint job. It is a sweet axe, with the new paint job I think it would be great.

Re: What's the best thing to do with this SK?
dunno, Rich might know. Will it be expensive for a full restore of the SK?
The horrid graveyard shifts. I remember about 5 years back I had to get a job for some money for uni, I used to work 12 hour night shifts, 6pm to 6am, god it was awful. There was only about 10 people working there aswell.

Lol....at least you got paid
Depends on what you mean by full restore? The neck you could do yourself. (as long as it doesn't need a refret) the paint job is a different story. Like Kev said, you could check with Patrick (once he's up n' runnin)

Re: What's the best thing to do with this SK?
Ya gotta understand, I have barely no experience with restoring, I'm just in the learning curves.
By full restore, I mean I want the SK to look as close to new as possible.

Patrick is obviously a good choice but there are many refinishers in the UK too...a few up north as well.
This chap seems to know his stuff.

Re: What's the best thing to do with this SK?
Yeah, I would definitely have it done locally, any good painter could do it, it's just getting the paint code for a good match that is the catchy part.

Re: What's the best thing to do with this SK?
believe it or not, I just gave him a ring and a woman answered, a bit of out of breath. I asked if it was possible to speak him, and she replied with "ermm.. he's in a bit of struggle at the moment" LOL
Will try later.
I will have a look around for others also.
