What's worth more in the long run?

Original 7RB, original 777VDY, 777VBK, or original 77DY? Which one do you think has the more collectible value?

Re: What's worth more in the long run?

dy an vbk are sold a lot. the rb is never been a collectors guitar, its a boring guitar and if it was rare or had value it should be now already.the vdy is a lot less sold for a shorter time.
but i think all old jems are a lot more expencive in a few years.on the bay are the prices very high on the moment.otherwise nothing will be sold.i have my uv's for sale and can go cheap as can be and nobody wants them.so value?asking price/sell price its all different. so dont mind about it.just have fun

It is definately not a time to be selling guitars - prices are down. However in answer to your actual question I would think that in terms of collectablity it may very well depend on if Mr Vai plays a particular guitar in a DVD. That said, I can't see him picking any of these beauties up again in the near future - although he was pictured on the front of GW with an LNG for the Flex anniversary....

Re: What's worth more in the long run?

In terms of being the most collectible, I would say DY. As it is one of the original 3 and it has pyramids.

I don't think that the VDY has mass appeal. The VBK is a little bit dull, and the RB is not that well known, and I think that the old monkey grip outs people off.

It is funny how trends in guitars change. I have noticed a few people over the last year saying that they love the VDY and the VSK, which I do not doubt for a second. But 5 or 6 years ago people were torching or refinishing the DY and SK models like they were going out of fashion, and to admit you liked the VSK was enough to turn you into a social pariah.

True, but in terms of collectibility you want to have the largest market if you want tto move it on. I think that the DY offers that whereas the VDY doesn't.

The value isn't as high as the LNG or many swirls, but I guess they weren't on the eoriginal list

Otherwise you might as well just go for the hardtail, as I bet they will be rare on the second hand market

Re: What's worth more in the long run?

surely the vdy is worth more and is alot more collectable.no disrespect the the dy vbk or rb all super awsome guitars but there wasnt many vdy made,im not bias cos i have a vdy.this is a rough price guide of second hand UK prices for the following guitars.777VBK £650-£750.77RB £800-£1000.777DY £800-£1100.VDY £950-£1500,obviously pending on condition.
