I dislike Evolutions. Their output is too high to my tastes.

The breed will do all of these. It is still a clean and articulate pickup, and is (once again) much more versatile imho. It does have harmonics and you can hit pinch harmonics. Although the Evolutions are a bit "shreddier," the Breeds will cover all the grounds you want it to AND handle cleans better than the Evo imho.

Go with the VBK

Thank You. That 2006 Ibanez went for $1675 and $60 Shipping in great shape. For that I might as well pay a little more and get a brand new one all my own.

Thanks Again Guys I think I want the Black. My wife said the White one looks like a PIMP Guitar and didn't liek the gold. She is not a guitar person so that was just her opinion. I showed her a picture of both and she said get the Black.

I wish they made a few more colors than black and white. I knwo they have in the past, but it would be nice.

Both Jem models are great guitars you cant go wrong either way. I have the white one, and it is a love or hate colour theme so I'm never offended if someone doesnt like it because I can see where they are coming from, also know as the elvis guitar

At the time when I got mine my two guitars were already black so I went for white (also at the time I didnt know the differences with the pick ups and the wood so they werent a factor for me). But i loved both colour schemes equally.

So yeah either purchase is win win

The VWH would sound a bit brighter than the VBK.

Having owned a VWH and truly loved it sound, i would go for the VBK just for something different this time.

Hey Guys I am not disrespecting the Jem7VWH (an any owners of it) at all it is a beautiful work of art that I woul dbe very happy to own. I just started having second opinions and when I showed the 2 pictures of both guitars to several people via e-mail, who aren't huge guitar guys, they all said (only 3 people) the white was a little gawdy/pimp looking and several mentioned the gold hardware.

I also most was tricking myself into thinking it was perfect. I played one last week and it plays like a dream and Does look classy, but it just has that something about it that NOW, after several of You chiming in on this thread, and my little personal comparison POLL, The Black JEM 77VBK might look a little sleaker and cleaner for Me.

I was also looking at a few of the Prestiges, but I AM going to get a Jem 77VBK. I might get one from Rich Harris? I bought an Andy Timmons from Him (AT300) but it wasn't set up which he told me it wasn't and sold it to me as such so I am not sure how great his guitars are vs. a store that I order it from New. Rich seems very smart and I like the attention to detail he shows on his set ups etc...

I will Never buy a guitar off the rack at Guitar Center, well atleast a $2K guitar. The ANDY TIMMONS was Beautiful, but didn't play the best and the custom breeds were not that hot so That is another reason I was worried about the breeds, However, HIS were a custom Breed!

Andy Timmons is one of my favorite tasty shredders. Not really a shredder, but he is great and lives near Dallas o I used to see him all the time 10 years ago for $5 on Wed Night at a local club.

OK I got off track but I can't wait to Buy me a Jem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions on the best place. I guess they all are going to be $2200 ish?? I knwo the white one is $2,249 but I saw a 2008 for $1,999 on line.

Tex Here. Hey I just went into the Guitar Center for a few minutes while the wife shopped at Costco...LOL They had the Jem 7VWH sitting out (usually it is at the top of the display only reachable by a ladder). I am surprised they let it on the floor as there were a few hackers playing it that didn't even knwo how to play.

The guy puts it down so I grab it and play it for 45 seconds It REALLY DOES PLAY GREAT!!!! I love the neck and it makes me play better. I hit a really crazy bend on the high E 2 steps up, and I SNAPPED the string! ha ha Man I felt bad, but maybe it was a sign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????? ??

It sure played sweet though. I can't wait to get the VBK as that neck is very nice. I have an ErnieBall Music Man LUKE the older one (Purplish RED) with the nice natural wood finish neck that plays great but as I might have already mentioned the neck and body are so Small. I like a wider thin fast neck.

Got my 7vwh on thursday its an 04. Its amazing I would do anything to buy one brand new buddy. Although I have never played or even seen a VBK let me say that the 7vwh is my dream guitar. I know I should play the breeds first but I honestly dont need to. I can happily say that you will be happy with what ever guitar you get because if the VBK is half as good as the vwh (which im guessing it is) You cannot go wrong!

Well, my 7vwh gets compliments whenever I take it out. "Beautiful" seems to be the term I always hear. Anyway, I've always wanted the 7vwh, and I love it,,,,,,,but you know what they say,,,,,once you get one Jem, you're gonna want another. If I ever get another , it will definitely be a 77 vbk.

Me 2, it got that bad when I played mine on thursday night I thought people were going to mob me just for my jem! Ive got a bad case of GAS im saving up for a VSBL, dont no why just want one SO bad now ive got my 7vwh!
