Which Trem for a Christopher Woods Jem Body?

I was told to go with an Ibanez Edge. But then I have seen Ibanez Edge, Edge pro, Edge Pro 6, etc. I am new to Jem's and please forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference, if any?

Re: Which Trem for a Christopher Woods Jem Body?

I think he builds them for Edge or Lo Pro Edge, so it will then be based on profile or if you like to see the allen key extend into the lion claw section or not.

you should check with what Chris is building for you since the new Edge Pros are different routings and you can not use the older Edges.

Also I think the neck pock size on JEMS changed in 05, from 46mm to 48mm

I would prefer the allen keys to be extended into the lions claw. I have the body in hand, so I will measure up the trem and neck pockets and post the measurements here.

-> definitely an edge. depending on the claw you might have to shorten the screws 2-3mm.

Re: Which Trem for a Christopher Woods Jem Body?

Would a standard Floyd work in the meantime, or, as I believe, are Edge trem's wider? I need one for this:

Anyone heard of (and this name could be wrong): J.R. Manoony? His name is on the neck pocket (although it is hard to read and the last name could be Mano***, Manooay, Manogny).

I'm pretty sure edge trems are wider. Also imo the edge is better than an ofr in certain ways. Plus the ofr would look very wrong in that guitar since the route will be so much longer and I think wider than an ofr route

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I am off to Pierre's site to search for an Edge now.

Re: Which Trem for a Christopher Woods Jem Body?

The Edge should work great but my preference would have been for the Lo Pro as it is nice to have the allan screws in front of the tail rather than in the claw. I block the trem and the allan screws behind the tail get in the way when I'm doing maintenance and restringing.

Let us know how it goes for ya.
