RCB, are both your UVMCs ATDs?

Re: Who else would like to see a UVMC reissue?
No, as a matter of fact they are both MKRs. Pretty good MKRs though (IMHO), one is pretty similar to the one on sale on ****. The other one has a very intrincate swirl but is mostly yellow.
I think that the MKR that is for sale now on **** has a very nice swirl. Id take that swirls over a lot of ATDs.
As I said, I dont care too much if its atd or MKR. I passed on a couple of ATDs (a pmc and a gmc). To me, its about wich one you like best. I remember that when I bought the 2nd in an auction, the pic was one of an ATD (that you can see here in jemsite named "hugh"). It was a pretty bad swirl but for 1000USD, I though "what the hell". It turned out that the owner didnt have a digital cam and he just put that pic, so when I finally saw the guitar it was an MKR with a much better swirl than "hugh" IMHO.
Here are a couple of pics of them:
Notice how bad the jem10, the yamaha 1412 and the RG3120 look in that pic because of the poor lighting. As you can imagine they look much more bright and "clear" in person.
The second pic is a little bit "better" but you get different angles (and the flash makes the colours look less intense), so check out both. The pics of the UVMC for auction on evil bay are actually much more accurate about how the colours look in person.
None of this pics reflect the complexity and definition of the pattern found in the yellow one. There are countles tiny different colored lines, one next to the other, completely defined. Only a close up would probably show that. May be I post a close up of that in a couple of hours. For the moment, this are the only pics available:

Re: Who else would like to see a UVMC reissue?
Well thats not the best angle on the green one (most of the swirl is on the other side). I agree though, that from a certain distance the green one look better.
Up close, its a tough call. Ill upload a couple of close ups of the yellow one later. Mind you, the colours are completely off in that pic. The yellow is like the DY yellow and the green is more like the LNG green (well, its actually the same as the one on evil bay). Thats the problem with indoor pics taken at night with a flash (the worst conceivable combo for guitar pics....)

I'm not pretending to be overjoyed about that, either. these things are guitars, not collectables.

Re: Who else would like to see a UVMC reissue?
The only reason to do an "anniversary" guitar is to pander to collectors anyway. As a player, why do I give a crap if it's an anniversary? As long as it plays the same way I expect it to- it can be the the 150th anniversary. The people who care enough to buy an anniversary model are the cork sniffers- the collectors. They'll pay ridiculous prices to be in the small (allegedly elite) group of folks who own one.
It has to be expensive, otherwise those people won't be attracted to it. I took an excellent marketing class in college where a professor explained the reason that Mercedes and BMW never offer real sales. People buy them at least in part because of the status that ownership gives them mentally. They like sitting at street lights while everyone sees them in their expensive car. Market research suggested that even if the quality were held constant, people wouldn't buy as many Mercedes if they were cheaper because the perceived status of the vehicle wouldn't hold up. Suddenly they don't feel superior to people driving Toyotas and Chevys. Gibson guitars are priced on the same marketing philosophy ever since the early 90s.
Bottom line is that some products create their worth to their target audience by being expensive- and I think collector guitars are certainly in that category.
So I expect this anniversary model to be no less of a wallet raper than the DNA. Another average guitar hyped into the stratosphere by limited quantities and inflated pricing.

Re: Who else would like to see a UVMC reissue?
Well, I finally took some decent photos of the "yellow" UVMC. As I said, from a distance id take the green one, but up close its a tough call. I dont have any decent pics of the green one, but as you will be able to see, the previus pics I posted dont do any justice to the guitars.
This pics were taken with a better camera with natural light today at 4pm. The difference is huge, and the colours are now more accurate (still not as bright or alive as the actual colours of the guitar though).
OK, so this is the link to the pics of the UV. 8 pics with a couple of close ups:

Something off topic: I also took some pics of the RBM custom (with the wood covers and new pups). If you never saw it, this is the link.... (its never finished, the covers need some work and thats why they are missing the screws) Before someone asks.... the woods pictured below were used on another project.

I hope you like them. This pics and the ones on the auction are among the very few that I think are actually somehow (but not completely) true to the colours of the japanese swirls. I will take better pics of the "green" one as soon as I return to argentina

Part of me would like to see a new UVMC, but for many of the reasons listed above, I think its best to just let it be. IMHO

Thanks!
So what do you think tubarao, you would still choose the green one over the yellow one? I know its not fair because I have no good pics of the green one, but I think you will agree about the yellow being much more interesting up close, than you could see on the previus pic.
