Why no love for the Jem 7DBK?

I think my VDY has an even thinner neck than my DBK!

The VDY has a wizard neck while the DBK has a jem neck that is thinner than the most common jem profile but not as thin as the typical wizard neck so you are correct.

According to Ibanez the profile of the:

_ vdy: 17 mm 1st fret and 20 mm 12th (wizard); check out catalogs from years '89 to '91
_ dbk: 17 mm 1st fret and 19 mm 12th (super wizard); the 1999 to 2002 stated that the dbk had a JEM neck but it was corrected with the correct dimensions for the 2003 catalog, where it said the dbk neck is a super wizard.

so the dbk is equal at the 1st and thinner at the 12th. Anyways vdy model was hand finished/sanded, so it can induce slight neck dimensions variations from one wizard neck to another.

I happen to own both the dbk and a prestige 2550 and 1550 and the neck of the dbk feels "bigger" for certain. Maybe it's slightly thinner but i don't think so and it's definetly a lot wider. Perhaps it differs between the years of manufacture as well?
I've never played a vdy though.
Anyways it's a really nice guitar.

For what it's worth, I saw a SFG in the flesh the other day and it looked completely awesome.

I played a DBK a few years ago and I was blown away by it, particularly the tone which I felt was better than my old 77fp at the time.

If you see one for a good price go for it.

I've seen one at a GC awhile back and I thought the color really didn't fit with the Jem vibe... but who am I to argue with Steve eh?

I just got another DBK today. I bought one the first year they came out (99-2000?) and someone else decided that they needed it more than I did. Got it, with case, from GC in North Carolina for $850. It's an 03 model and except for some light scuffing on the pickguard, looks new. I can't wait to have it set up properly with a set of hybrid cobalts!
