Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

This is also for the JS model.

if they are going to put the edge trem on the 20th and black dog series. then why cant they just put them on all of them?

same goes for the JEMs. why not just put all of them as Lo pro standard? its all that Vai uses.

IMO, the edge and lo pro get better flutter since this edge is so closely related to the Floyd rose which has the best flutter IMO.

why dont they do this? if its a signature model. why use different parts that the artist doesnt even use??

You must be young. Life lesson, Every thing in this world revolves around the almighty dollar. It costs them less to use the Edge Pro which they designed. The probally still have to pay a fee for the use of the Edge and LoPro which is a copy of the Floyd Rose. Now multiply that times the amount of guitars they make each year and you come back to the dollar. You can find the answer to most things in life by following the money.

I do agree that if they make a Sig guitar that an artist endorses and a particular artist uses a certain bridge that they guitar in question should be what the artist plays.

well yea. i guess i didnt expect IBanez to be greedy. i mean. doesnt it cost less to make a guitar than it is when they sell it?? like when you buy a DLP tv, does it cost 2000 dollars of 20 bucks to make?

Re: Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

Yeah man, the more FR patents they use in a design the more money they have to pay to the original design's owner. And that Is per guitar. And I bet that Floyd Rose is a company that wants a good price for the use of their ideas.

That's why they have the new edge zero or whatever it's called. It's totally free of using FR patents.

Yeah hold on, it seems like it's only $5 a guitar but remember that Ibanez has to pay for that before they even sell one, providing that they ever sell one period. So that's like I don't know $100,000 up front just for the patent fees. That's a lot that doesn't come back instantly

I don't have an opinion yet I haven't tried any, but I just block up my RGs. I don't use the trem but I don't really like the fixed bridge RG selections.

Re: Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

It is the same reason they stoped putting "real dimarzios" in their Prestiges. While Dimarzio does "make" the Dim/Ibz pups it cost way less to use those than "real" ones. Wrap your noodle around this. What do most dudes here do when they get a guitar? They buy aftermarket pups to put in their guitars. Dimarzio wins on both ends.

If you want a Jem with an Edge or LoPro but a mint used one.

Some saps say love makes the world go around. HaHa on that.

Ibanez pays royalties on the Lo Pro and Edge Pro. They do not pay royalties on the EDGE3, ZR, and EZ. Steve has final say of what is on the JEM.

I have read on the Vai forums that he does not like the Edge Pro. So why would his fans buy a guitar with equipment that he himself does not use?

Re: Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

I missed including. Patents on the EDGE ran out in 2002.

And who exactly stated this on the vai forum?

Steve has and plays many guitars with the EP on it.

Re: Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

I am not going to go searching for the post but it was made by his tech iike a year or so ago. Yes I have seen pics of him playing a Edge Pro equiped guitar but in all the vids of him talking about his favorite guitars none of those he said were his favorite none had the Pro on it.

I have nothign against the Pro it as it does what it is supposed to do. My main point is why ibby uses it comes down to the dollar factor.

Re: Why not put Edge or Lo pro standard?

Then you'd be wrong because they pay $14/bridge to use them.

And Steve's favorite guitars are all 15 years old if you haven't noticed.
