Will Paf Pro's in a 7VWH sound good? - Can I also swap the g

Based on my past experience with a JS1000 and a JemFP, I really liked the Paf Pro's in the neck for a great clean tone. *After a guitar crisis (going from FP to JS1000 to UV777BK to 7VWH all in 6 months), I have finally come full-circle and settled on a 7VWH.

The only problem is, I play with a lot of clean tones and have discovered that the Evolutions are hella-bright and meant for shred-heads and not quite as pretty as a PAF Pro for clean tones. *

I am assuming that replacing them with a pair of Paf Pro's will return the glory of my old '88 Jem 77 FP which got great clean tones from strat twang to glassy funk to jazzy clean. *I guess the alder/ebony combination instead of basswood/rosewood might still affect the tone, but not as severely as the pups.

So, my questions are

1.) has anybody stuck some paf-pros in thier 7VWH? *did you like it? *

2.)Did the single coil need replacing too, or is it the same as in an FP?

3.) would putting the gold colored coils from the Evolutions into the Paf Pros change their tone at all?

thanks everybody

I don't own a VWH, but I would imagine they would sound very good.

The single coil in the VWH has been tailord to match the Evolution pickups. It is not the same as a Jem single found in the FPs.

The pole pieces are/should be interchangeable and shouldn't make any tonal difference.

1. I did the opposite. *I replaced the PAF Bridge in my BFP with an EVO. *I think they're a wonderful combination. *If I had an extra $140 i'd replace my UV p'ups with the same combination. *I do like the Blaze II Bridge, but Evo's a little cleaner.

2. *Throw the Jem single coil in the garbage and put in something with hotter, better EQ'ed output. * I have had woderful success with the DiMarz VirtuAL bridge p'up in the middle position, wired as a single.

good luck.
