WOULD THIS IDEA WORK?.....HELP!!!

Alright guys, I know this is in the wrong place but I need your help! I hope I can explain this correctly and that u can help me. I just got a Rocktron Utopia G100 for my birthday and I love it. The only thing that bothers me is that u can't jump between presets easily cuz it only has 3 switches, one for preset recall and two to scroll up and down thru the presets. I use a solid state amp and it sounds alright for my cleans but the distorton sucks. The amp has 2 inputs on the front, one low gain and one high gain. I was thinking of getting an a/b switch and running the "a" channel into a chorus pedal(the only effect I use for cleans) and then into the high gain input for my clean sound and running the "b" channel into the utopia then into the low gain input. That way I could still jump easily between clean and dirty tones. I love the recto-fried preset and would use that as my dirty tone most of the time but would also use a few others from time to time. The amp has a great sounding spring reverb that I always keep set on 4 for both clean and dirty tones.

Is this setup even possible? If not, do u have any suggestions? u guys have given me great advice in the past so I know I can count on y'all!!

Hmm,. not sure.

If you can make the low gain input's level the same as the high gain input, it shouldn't be a problem.
If your amp has an effects loop you could go with a little bit different setup.
Put a loopswitcher in there ( lehle Dloop is nice and affordable ).
Make a loop from amp input to effectsloop out.
Another from rocktron input to output
connect looper to effects loop input ( in addition to any effects you have. )
So :
Loop 1 : Amp clean channel
Loop 2 : Rocktron device
Output : to effects like chorus, delay, whatnot to effects return.

Big plus is that the rocktron sound goes directly to the poweramp. Ofcourse, you could connect the chorus in loop 1 as well.

Re: WOULD THIS IDEA WORK?.....HELP!!!

I use to have a similar problem..........long time ago. I had a Marshall pre-amp running into a Mos-Valve power amp which powered 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets. I had a BBE, Alesis EQ, Zoom effects processor, etc. thru the effects loop of the pre-amp. From clean to dirty I had to step on the pre-amp pedal. To change effects, I had to step on the Zoom pedal.......however many times it took to get to an effect I wanted. Plus..........the Zoom had like a second of silence switching between effects.............drove me nuts. Tap dancing on my pedals and having these little bits of silence everytime I switched effects! I considered getting another amp with an A/B switch for my clean.............
It became easier & cheaper to just ditch the processor and I got a delay stomp box. Delay is the only effect I really use anyway from time to time. That way all I had to step on was clean/dirty...........delay on/off.
Of course...............now................Im back to using processors again, but its all in-line thru the mixer and into the recorder.
