Question

04 RG2570E Prestige Rough condition= repaint or chatacter?

I know if I bought an old fender and it was all beat up I would never repaint it. My fender has been out of the case since 1986 and the worse it looks the better it looks. But I bought an 04 Prestige RG2570E with that textured silver paint. It has lots of chips and scratches and dents in the finish. Do these guitars loose value if you change the finish? I would repaint it but probably can't reproduce the texture. Any advice? Thanks

I have a Rg2570, I think once my paints gets too bad (which will be pretty bad) I will strip it and veneer it or something. Idk how to reproduce the texture

Just get a Jem body for it off the bay or from a vendor here. Maybe one of those RG-Voyager bodies!

once u repaint it, the value is droping.
if you not repaint it, the value is already dropped because of its conditions.
your call.

Thats what I thought when back in 75' I decided I didnt like the green patina on the gold top on my 69' LP Deluxe, so I sanded it off and stained it. I dont want to make that mistake twice. So I ask the opinion of you guys who know more about Ibanez than I ever will.
I guess there will never be any GREAT value to this guitar, just do what makes me happy and enjoy it. That sounds like good advice

Re: 04 RG2570E Prestige Rough condition= repaint or chatacter and charm

the weird thing is if you repaint that guitar now it adds value to it now because it is a relatively new guitar in bad condition.....but save the bad paint now and dont let it get worse and then you have an old guitar with an ok paint job which will add more value then an old guitar that was painted when still relatively new........this make any sense?

I still wouldn't worry about resale on an Ibanez, now on my American Deluxe Fender if I decided to repaint it (which I would want to since black and the fingerprints are annoying as hell) I would probably lose a lot of resale.
