Very pretty. All of them are... I kinda dig that bright pink one at the bottom.

IMO, you could save a few bucks (unless you just have to have the j.custom logo) by picking up a 2770FM. Same guitar, a few less trappings, much more affordable. I'm waiting on my 2770FM in transparent blue to show up from Ishibashi.

I hope that this RG8270 isn't the model that is replacing the RG8670. More money for a guitar that doesn't have a matching headstock? Doesn't make sense to me.

While the new RG8270 is nice, I have to agree Bluestreak that I'd rather go for the RG2770 even if it is "only" a Prestige.

Re: 2005 Jcrg8270

They havent got much details on the neck dimensions. Im actually dropping 8670 to go for a 8570 instead as I read that 8570 necks are thicker....19.5 at first fret and 21.5 at 12th. But the tree of life inlay is just so tempting...
Anyone know if the new range of J custom has thicker neck like those of 8570? Thanks.

You can see the specs if you click on the photo. The 8270's neck is 18mm at the 1st fret. So it's in between the 8670 and the 8570.

I really dig the HRG01FM in PINK!!! The price is too expensive though. 228,000 JPY is roughly $2100 (ouchhh!!!).

I think I am going to sell my kidney!!! :-(

Re: 2005 Jcrg8270

Very nice, but the macassar ebony headstock just looks akward on the blue one. I think Id take the RG8670(VV) over both of them, although the DR would be a close call.

They are all beautifull guitars, but the only one I really find interesting is the translucent pink one (HRG-01FM/EPK #4A016). The last one (the EP looks good, but not as good as the EPK). Add a clear pickguard and white pups (may be white knobs) and that is the coolest looking guitar (anniversary models exculded) Ibanez has to offer since they introduced the multicolors..... you read that right! IMHO that is the best model since the UVMC, PMC and GMC... IF you add a clear pickguard and white pups. As it is, the HRG03/DBK #48028 looks a little better.

Finally How can you not love the HRG01FM(PG) #4A023 (the green one)? With a clear pickguard and green/black pups (like the GMC) it would aso look killer!!!!!!!

This is the first time Im really excited about a production guitar in a long time!

Its been a long time since I felt lije saying this but...... Ibanez still RULES. Too bad I probably wont have the chance to get one of them. I would gladly sell one of my UVMC to get one of those!

Amazing guitars.

Not that I don't think they're pretty, but they're limited edition models only available at Ikebe. They don't say exactly how many they're going to be making, but they're not quite production models.

Also, most of the HRGs are 42mm wide at the nut. I don't know how important that is to everyone else, but that's a deal breaker for me. One of the reasons I like Ibanez is the wide neck.

Re: 2005 Jcrg8270

I dont have so much of a problem with a narrower neck of 42mm instead of 43mm but I do prefer a thicker neck 19.5mm by 21.5mm. Something which is pretty close to my jpm neck.

Re: 2005 Jcrg8270

FYI - the Ibanez Japan page has not been updated with the new 2005 J Custom models, but Ishibashi has some of the new models.

RG8270 - looks like the RG8670 without the matching headstock and rosewood fingerboard (used to be ebony)

RG8170 - looks like the RG8570 without the matching headstock, neck dimensions aren't provided on the webpage so I guess this is the replacement for the RG8570

RG8127 - replacement for RG8527 without the neck & headstock binding and a change to the TZ7 & AN7 pickups

All of them apparently have the new 5-piece necks and are available in the black onyx color which looks pretty cool. They are also more expensive than their replacements from last year.

Personally, I am dissapointed that matching headstocks are apparently gone - guess it is cheaper to make all of the necks interchangable regardless of what the color of the body is. Maybe they are trying to compete with the PRS look of matching fingerboard and headstock overlay (I think the cost savings seems the more likely reason).

Regards,
JJG
