2006 JCustom 7 Strings?

I've seen the new rg8470s and have been aware of the HRG4s for some time, but has anyone seen anything about 2006 JCustom 7 string models?

8127 VV & BX is all I see other than the HRG4-BX.

8470 is a 6 isn't it?

Yup, the 8470 is a 6, but it's the only 2006 JCustom that has appeared so far. The 8127 is a 2005 model. I'm hoping they do an 06 version of the 8127 with a matching headstock.

Nope, nothing new there. I have to confess the 8320 makes me hope the entire line is going back to offset dots for fret markers. A BX 7 with offset dots and a matching headstock would be sweet.

Lol ah Budd, such dilemmas If the RG7CT bothers you THAT much you could always get an HRG4... I'd love one but it's a bit too pricey for me.

I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for a new JC 7... an RG8127 with offset dots and matching headstock would fit the bill nicely... the non-matching headstock is the main reason I haven't bought a 2005 JCustom...

You don't know how tempted I am to get a HRG-4... but I don't think it had a matching headstock either. Come to think of it, I don't think Ibanez made a J-Custom 7 string with a matching headstock. They JCRG-7, RG8527 and RG8127 all have rosewood/ebony overlays on the headstock.

(Yeah..Offset dots look soo much better..)

Yeah, but at least the HRG4 has the black headstock so it doesn't stand out as much as the wood finish with the black flame body... I'm actually fighting the urge to get one... if I sell my JPM90 I could afford it, and it becomes more tempting as the number listed on Gakki's site decreases...

I'd really like to check out that 7 string.com site, it's too bad you have to register to do anything.

Re: 2006 JCustom 7 Strings?

HRG4-BX has a black headstock that looks fine with the black body. The guitar is insanely nice - if you have a chance to grab one I'd strongly recommend it.

Arent the 8327's and 8427's pictured here new?

http://www.ikebe-gakki.com/search_fair.php?fairId=48

Im tempted for either one of those as a backup to the HRG4

Re: 2006 JCustom 7 Strings?

The 2 models so far for 2006 are the RG8327 and RG8427, which are essentially the RG8320 and RG8470 with 7 strings. What more do you want ?!?!?!?! As for the matching headstock saga, I like rosewood/ebony or matching headstocks. At least rosewood/ebony is better than just black paint or natural maple and (usually) matches the fretboard !!!!

Could anyone tell me what the deal is with J-Custom? Do they just crank out random-spec guitars for their own liking or what? And why are they exclusive available in Japan?

Re: 2006 JCustom 7 Strings?

Think of the J-Custom line as a 'private stock' type guitar. There are models with certain specs, but larger dealers can get custom models as long as they order a batch of them. A lot of them have been made in small numbers, but others are almost like buying a PRS Custom 24 where it's already been spec'd out.

The market in Japan is very different than it is here and they gotta do things that are special for Japan just to keep people interested in buying Japanese products. If you notice, it's not just guitars that the Japanese have a higher end selection to choose from, but also cars & cd's(and probably a whole lot of other things).

The J-Custom line of guitars isn't really exclusive to Japan as they are sold in the UK and North America. The only thing is that usually those are last years models and only a very limited # are available. But if you look pretty much everything else that comes from Japan or Korea, the new stuff we get here is usually last years model over there. (Your brand new cell phone or mp3 player may be brand spanking new here, but it sure ain't the brand new model there).
