Re: 2009 ibanez line-up speculation

Andy Timmons

It has been circulating the web very recently....

http://andytimmons.com/ATBBBS/viewtopic.php?t=930

Hi Folks,

I'm very proud to announce that Ibanez and I have agreed to re-issue the original AT100 on a global scale. As opposed to the original AT100 which was a limited production (we think @ 300 were made), the AT100CL will be available worldwide and will be made to the exact specs as the original including the hand shaped neck!!
As you may recall, I announced a while back that I had parted ways with Ibanez and that I just wanted to play whatever I felt like playing. I never had any intention of signing with another guitar company as many had speculated. I did get approached by many companies once word got out (which I was very flattered by) but it was more important to me to remain independent and avoid a reputation as an "endorsement hopper".
What I discovered in this time period is that I do love to play Strats occasionally as well as SG Specials, Teles and Les Pauls but nothing feels like "home" like my original AT100. Tone, feel and expression.
It's truly MY guitar. As I was coming to this realization, Hoshino invited me to play for their 100th Anniversary concert in Japan w/Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert.
I was very honored to be asked to do so and I thought it was cool for them to ask considering I wasn't currently an endorsee. During my visit they approached me with the idea of re-issuing the AT100. It was just perfect timing...it felt "right"!
I know there has been a lot of interest in this guitar in the past, so I'm so happy to say that it will finally be available in 2009!
The guitar will be unveiled at the January NAMM show (and available for pre-order) in Anaheim and should be in stores by Spring.
The Andy Timmons Band will appear opening for Paul Gilbert and Racer X
as part of the NAMM festivities. Good stuff indeed.

I'm off to play...I'm inspired!!!

Andy

Yea, I'd say that's official

I ordered 4 a few days ago, List is $3066 with street coming in at $2299. Ironically that's actually less than most 100's sell for fairly used so it's actually one of the better reissue prices!

A lot cooler than his previous signature. What are the specs on the guitar? Wood, pickups etc...

Really looking forward to seeing that one, and the other Ibanez NAMM goodies.

It's been many moons since I bought a guitar from you, I think that will change this year.

Warm Regards,

Mike

Re: 2009 ibanez line-up speculation

I was happy about the Rg550 reissue, and thought the RG770DX reissue was pretty darn sweet as well. But I can barely contain myself about the AT100 being reissued. I've been looking for a used one for a while now, and to have it come back as a regular production model is just TOO FREAKIN' COOL!!!

I'm also very pleased AT is back with Ibanez. It didn't bother me too much to see guys like Kotzen or Vinnie Moore leave Ibanez, but to see Timmons somewhere else would have seemed very wrong to me. Like Vai playing a Washburn or PG playing a Schecter.

If you go onto Thomann they have stuff available for pre-order, descriptions and all, but no pictures yet. So you'll just have to imagine what they look like for the moment!

Re: 2009 ibanez line-up speculation

So more speculation from me...

So it's Hoshino's 100th anniversary too correct ? so PGM-100th JS-100th Jem-100th ;-)

so for definate we have the reissue of the AT100, the PGM Fireman, Probably the PGM sunburst

Rich said "If they reissue a model I've heard, it would be Wiz" which means unless I'm just reading more into it, that Rich HAS heard a reissue is coming and your guess is as good as anyones what it would be. Unless that's the AT100 although the AT200 neck was awesome but not wiz but what was on the AT100? so... Original sig guitars with the wiz were a bunch of PGM's and of course the Jem77PBK ;¬)

Then there's the possibility of the Chris Broderick RGA 7 with rev headstock since he's now in a big band "Megasomething" and the guitar is getting more exposure. Now that is a guitar I would think about getting.

The only thing I saw on Thomann was this http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_s100spl.htm
and wow that's expensive £7832

I'm actually looking forward to Namm I'm particularly interested in the new Legacy although I'm really wanting to try a Cornford MK50II since the Legacy will probably be a tweaked V3 but I'm straying off topic.

I was thinking of a RG1527 as a Christmas present to myself but I'll wait to see what Namm brings although it takes about a year before they start showing up in shops.

P

Dave Mustaine and Andy Sneap asked him to stop playing 7 strings, so he had Ibanez make him 2 6-strings for the recording of the new album. Dave also recently said on the Megadeth forums something like "Whichever guitar company ends up getting him will be very lucky," so maybe he's considering other companies. I haven't seen any pics yet but I imagine his 2 new guitars might be 6-string versions of what he already plays. I wouldn't expect a Broderick sig, either 6 or 7 string, until at least 2010, assuming he stays with Ibanez, because they haven't even released any official recordings with Chris yet (not counting that HDNet concert recently).

Well, Glen Drover was the second longest serving Megadeth guitarist after Marty Friedman, but if/when Chris leaves, I'll do it.
