2027 Availability?

So just how rare is the RG 2027x? I've wanted one for a long time but after not seeing any for awhile I bought an EB/MM JP7 and played it a couple of years. I happened to pick up an S7420FM and realized how badly I missed the feel of Ibanez and I've kind of refallen in love with them.

Where are the best places to find one? At what price should I expect to pay (I'm in the US)? Any advice finding one?

Re: 2027 Availability?

They're rare in the fact that they were only built for one year and a lot of the people who bought them fell in love with them and never want to sell them.

That said though, there's always a few people who find they aren't overly keen on a mahogany body when they've been used to Basswood or Alder and they sometimes do end up selling their 2027's.

The best place to find one is e bay, without a doubt.

There's been a couple on there in the last month or two (at least three i can remember),although the prices are gradually increasing on them!
I got mine from e bay in the UK (they are MUCH rarer over here, for sure!)and i absolutely love it.
I love basswood and alder guitars too but the mahogany body on the 2027 gives it a really thick, heavy sound.I love it to bits!!!!

The fact that it's got the Double-Edge Lo-Pro trem with the piezo system is another reason why so many people want one.
I don't actually use the piezos on mine that much but it's nice to know they're there if you need them.

Good luck with your search anyway!

Re: 2027 Availability?

I thought they were available for another year or two in Japan, as well?

Either way, it's a hell of a guitar, and it shares the same neck profile with the CST that arguably inspired it - perhaps the most comfortable Ibanez has produced. A bit beefier than the older UV's or the 7620 neck with more of a D-shaped curve, but it just feels awesome.

Price-wise, $1200 seems about typical for a well-maintained clean player in a UV1000. I've seen one or two go for higher (one in particular significantly so) than that, but my feelings were that's less a reflection of market price than the buy getting ripped off (the fact that the buyer told me that the seller had originally worked out a deal for MORE than his eventual puchase price of $1800 but consented to cut him a lower deal when the guy couldn't deliver the cash makes me believe this all the more, as that's absurd, I've seen CST's go for that).
