540S Neck Question(out of the ordinary!!!)
My wife recently picked up a 540S second hand and when we brought it home, we noticed some odd differences compared to the myriad of other older S' we have, but most importantly, the neck size.
It is not a standard wizard neck, but thinner all around by quite a bit. Comparing it to 10 other guitars I have with identical wizard necks makes it more apparent. It starts at about 16mm to 16.5mm and continues that size until about the 14th fret where it jumps to about 18mm or so.
The other inconsistencies are a slightly thicker, overall profile than other early 90's sabres and a strange translucent purple body color that was never available as a stock color around that time.
As background info, it was made in the Case custom shop sometime in 91-92 with the neck plate having the address but no number engraved and the only way I am identifying the date is from the headstock.
Any ideas how to further identify this guitar, specifically the neck? I would be happy to provide the serial on the neck to any of the experts out there who could use this info to shed more light? I love this neck and would love to know of more with the same dimensions as it's more comfortable than the standard Wizard 1 profiles.
